The area looks ok and especially our apt complex LOOKS well kept, nice apts. You should be on the real south-side of town...there is only pawn-shops/liquor stores

You do, however have a point...a bad area might not always be that ovious..and that apt complex is actually reputable..you would NOT expect those things going on entering the apt complex. Know better now

I hope very much to move to nashville to a nice area. This with the thgs actually never bothered me becasue i just did it off as them being retards...but i mean now its obvious. The Q is if he would've tried to break open the door entirely (thinking noone was home)...and also ALWAYS a bad feeling every time we left the apt. (Knowing they literally checked out our PCs/Notebooks and whatever we had in here like they were window shopping). I mean they are so desperate they break in cars and rip out radios...so this must seem to them very tempting.

Btw...irconically..the few months ago when the car was broken in....we have NO CLUE how they got in...the door was open and we always lock the car. NO DAMAGE outside...except the whole middle-console thing ripped out and the radio more or less nicely unplugged.

To our amazement there was my GF's wallet with credit-cards and SS number and everything In the car (yes, dumb !) and they didnt touch it..or maybe were in such a big hurry they didnt see it.

Certain years and models of Dodge vehicles can be broken into without breaking the windows etc, all they need is a screwdriver, or something to jimmy the door. I know cause my Neon at the time (I no longer drive that pos now) I had one got broken into twice. The second time, my radio was such a pos, that the faceplate would break into dozens of pieces like legos if you pulled it off too fast, so I got even with a would-be car thief.

You know you live in a bad area when there are more pawn shops and payday loan places than banks.

we're in the middle...south is REALLY bad (as you said)..north is great. But the ghetto is taking over....you can see many places going out of business around here.

UPD:

we had a cop here....but as expected he really wouldnt want to do anything...the landlord/cops blanter something about "this apt complex is being watched"..whatever...because the frequent break ins on the parking lot.

Anyway he said something like he cant really do anything if there is no 100% proof, especially in front of a court...and yes the thugs wont admit whatever...they will play dumb and and deny everything or say they were drunk and got the wrong door....BS even. He also said its a problem because basically nothing was really BROKEN IN.... so in other words: Unless someone actually BREAKS in and does damage and steals there is NOT much they can do....

So this was a waste of time...

when i was in the air force and stationed in Germany. the Gulf war just started and i was working 12 hour night shifts. the neighbors wife was a insecure baby and was terrified that her husband (mechanic) was going to get deployed. for a week she would knock on my door and wake me up normally during my premo sleep usually around 3pm. she would tell me to turn on the TV for the latest developments and leave. well after a week of this i finally had enough and opened the door stark naked with the bonus of half mast. she was shocked but said what she wanted to say and left. she never did it again. I told my wife what i did and she laughed her ass off.

It's not the "thugs" I'm afraid of... it's you people. Western TN sucks dude... I've had the misfortune to live in Memphis for half of my life (fourteen years). Its a whole different ballgame than any other part of the country I've been in.
