They've acomplished their goal of keeping you under the speed limit. ;)

in california if no room to pass them on the right, they may just get passed on the left
First of all, I never said anything about anybody passing me on the "wrong" side. And, secondly, the left side IS the normal side to pass on...unless your car has a fartpipe and a giant aluminum spoiler on the back. :p

Semi-truck drivers, this includes you. If the guy in front of you is doing a few feet per hour more than you, for crying out loud, punch it, pass him, then return to the speed limit
You ever driven a Semi?

Well yeah. ;)

I grew up on a farm, so it was not uncommon to have to drive a rig (borrowed from a friend mind you) to haul grain around. Never had one on the highway, but I've definately driven one. Haven't driven one in a number of years, but I did when I still lived on the farm.

You'd pass him but with traffic the way it is, there's no way you'll make it short of winning a darwin award. So you meander along behind him. Finally you're up to 45mph...1 mile later!!! WTH?? It seems that lots of people are taking forever to accelerate up to speed these days. I admire people who drive safely and within the speed limit, but for the Love of God, please learn to accelerate!! You don't need to punch the accelerator through the floor and jack rabbit out of the light, but at least have the courtesy to get up to speed fairly quickly. It should only take you a couple hundred feet to reach the speed limit, not a whole freaking mile!! Also, if the speed limit says 55, don't freaking drive 30!!! AUGH!! Also, if you're gonna pass a slower vehicle, do it quickly. Don't take all day to do it. Semi-truck drivers, this includes you. If the guy in front of you is doing a few feet per hour more than you, for crying out loud, punch it, pass him, then return to the speed limit. Don't pin in the rest of us trying to do the speed limit for 4 wheeled vehicles. (trucks are limited to 55mph in our state, cars 70mph)

Ok, that's off my chest. You may now return to your daily grind.

That doesn't bother me too much. One minute of my time is small potatoes compared the big picture.

My pet peeve is when traffic volume is really high (and backed up for a couple of miles) and everyone's speed is about 20 mph less than the limit. I'm going the same speed as EVERYONE else and have no where to go. But there's always some idiot that thinks he will gain something by passing me and trying to squeeze into the 10-12 feet between me and the car in front of me. Why don't they realize that passing me makes ABSOLUTELY NO difference because there are hundreds of cars ahead of me that dictate the speed that I have to drive at??

I hate when people don't accelerate up to the speed of traffic to merge onto the highway. It's easier to 'slow' into traffic than it is to gun it at the very end. Especially for the 10 cars you've just screwed behind you. ARGH!

Ah, it's probubly that whole silly dominance thing. The nelson mentality. Their thinking is "them > you" therefor they do what they do. You however watch them do this and assume "Them(intelligence = nonexistant)" :D

Near where I live, the merge lane to the highway (99) goes into the lane that big rigs drive in. The highway is two lanes each way, so sometimes it hard to merge in, cuz trucks can't move over as courtesy to let you in. I don't totally stop--unless I'm about to get crushed by a rig. I usually merge on at about 40mph. On 5 (california near central valley), the on ramp is really long, and not short at all, I usually merge at atleast 60mph...sometimes 80mph

I feel your pain!! :|

Soo many idoits! Who gives a Rat's Ass if you've saved two cents in gas. Push the pedal enough to get through the damn light at a decent rate of speed! There is the whole world behind you, trying to get through that light too.

These people, that can't drive, you see them pushing their shopping carts the same way. Anyone fortunate to have a Super Wal-Mart around them? Great prices on stuff. Just watch out for the fatass white trash woman who will stop at nothing to beat you to the checkout line...

I totally agree about the acceleration thing. I've heard that it's actually a lot better in Europe, though. People aren't so lazy about accelerating (this from a friend who did one of those student exchange things in Switzerland).

I also hate people who don't get into the intersection to make a left hand turn. They just sit behind the line and wait, when if they just drove 10 feet forward they could legally turn when the light is turning red.

Yep. Definately. But still, they can accelerate some rather than moving like 2 feet per hour faster than the guy they're passing. I know it's not THAT hard to put a few extra MPH on that thing.

That is quite dangerous, and illegal in most locations.

My worst pet peeve lately has been people getting on the fwy and cutting all the way across 5 lanes of traffic to be in the left lane... And they're still going like 40!!! Haven't even hit the speed limit yet!!!

And usually I'm in that left lane doing 70 and would be occupying the same space as the idiot if I didn't hit my brakes. :|

This has happened like 5 times the past 2 weeks. Always a different loser.

Word. I also hate gutless drivers that won't pass slow drivers. Instead they just sit there and tailgate them. I bet I average 3-5 passes a week out here, and that's just so I can go about 5 MPH over the limit.

You turn when the light is yellow after making sure there is no oncoming traffic. That's entirely legal as you entered the intersection when the light was green. BTW, if you do this make sure you keep your tires straight until you're ready to go through; otherwise getting rear-ended pushes you into oncoming traffic.

I really wish they would give out more tickets for going too slow. Just the other day a co-employee was doing 35 in a 50 on a major traveled road. I couldn't honk or tailgate because it was a co-employee of course. But they can single handedly cause what could of been a 40 min trip into a hour long trip.

Pull them over and fine them, don't have to give them points, but at least fine their ass's for obstructing traffic.

This happens to me especially when there are two lanes in the street, so about 2 dozen cars in the other lane pull ahead and into the lane I'm in while I'm trying to get around Mr. "I'm saving some gas." Then, I miss the next light (1 minute and 24 seconds red) by one car. It is uncanny how I can pick the "slow" lane, it's like some sort of twisted gift.

I have a relative who was moving his camping trailer, well he goes from the access road onto the highway, early enough in the morning that there are very few cars on the road, and accelerates up the on ramp/merge lane, and is continueing to accelerate, gas floored, still accelerating slowly though. The cop along side the road must have had a bad morning/night because he gave my relative a ticket for obstructing the flow of traffic, or something along that line, when there were very few cars on a multi-lane highway.
Point being, you can get a ticket in Texas for accelerating too slowly.

I hate people who roll through stop signs by barely hitting the brakes at all.

That is it.

1) If there was enough time to pass while yellow, then it wouldn't matter if they pulled up or not - they'd have time to turn. You can sit behind the crosswalk and wait until the yellow and turn if there is that much time (10 extra feet won't change the picture).
2) Thus we are only talking about when there isn't enough time to turn while yellow.
3) So that means you want people to turn while red - which is illegal and dangerous.

Note: just pulling past the crosswalk and stopping hoping there will be time to turn while yellow is illegal in most locations.

God i hate those morons.

OMG that just happened to me today for the first time. i was going onramp to the freeway, a guy in minivan is in front of me. but right when it began merging, he stopped, i mean stopped to like 5mph max, and slowly acclerated. luckyly there were a stretch of no cars for several 100's feet. this has got to be a traffic violation right??
