I use it as long as I'm not with my Jewish friend
Sometimes, I use it in front of him to make fun of him
I just don't use it while talking to a stranger

Well, duh.

I swear and make racial remarks around my friends all the time, but you don't do that around strangers until the ice is broken.

And it kinda annoys me how it's okay to insult a white person, but not anyone else. I'm not offended by slurs, but double standards piss me off.

He was jewed down then gyped by the mick who thought he was an indian-giver...

The whole PC thing sucks. Sure, there are some things that are intentionally offensive, but people just need to grow thicker skin and not let the little things that may be said as unintentional slurs go by.

With lots of relatives living on reservations in South Dakota, I'm pretty used to all the "Blanket-ass, Teepee-creeper, red-ni**er, "Cheif, Squaw, etc. types of remarks, and yes, even indian-giver...Unless it's obvious that the person is intentionally using the word to try to offend me, I just ignore it.
We Americans have always had some group that we persecuted in one way or another...and probably always will...

I described myself as a jew once and the people I was speaking to were very offended. I meant to say I was very thrifty.

And gyped is fine. There are no such thing as gypsies anyway... lol

Have never heard the word jewed used before. I hear and use gypped fairly often, don't really think about gypsies when it is said.

just because YOU don't think of gypsies, doesn't mean a gypsies' feelings don't get hurt when they hear it. It may well affect them long enough where they can't concentrate enough on their next scam. try to be more sensitive to those around you

for instance, when I say I jerry-rigged something, my friend Jerry gets all huffy puffy. I never realized his feelings were hurt when I say that, so know I watch what I say around him.

Does the term "gerrymander" offend him?

I don't think I've ever heard it used in normal conversation.

Then again, I'm Jewish so people may not use it when I'm around.

Who gives a shit if it's offensive. People need to lighten the hell up. I'm white and when I hear a white slur... I couldn't possibly care less. Oh, and I got jewed out of monitor on craigslist today. Oh well.

Being white means your position within western nations is so secure that you would almost never have to worry about serious racism. Minorities don't have your luxury. Racial slurs deepen stereotypes and give people the idea that discrimination is acceptable. Let the attitude run unchecked and things can get very hard for them; it wouldn't stop at just words.
