I'm posting in a thread about tipping to point out that no one needs to be tipped as the title suggests.

No, in the UK you cannot give a tip to a doctor, you can't give them money, if you try and tip a bartender they will put the money in a charity pot as they can't carry cash.

Goo god, that is bleak.

Tip always:

Servers
Pizza Delivery(even if it's only 1-2 bucks)
Hair stylist
Valet

Tip sometimes:
Any other person vying for my cash that goes way above and beyond the call of duty.

If that's all your bartender does, you're going to the wrong bar.

It is when I buy a bottle of beer, sometimes they poor my pint, sometime (on a rare occasion) they'll make me a cocktail, normally the most effort they will put is sticking a couple of shots of something in a coke for me... Hardly worth a tip!?

Some provide some conversation, good information, free drinks, and above and beyond service, this warrants a tip, in my opinion.

Free drinks is rare, conversation isn't something I pay for, nor is information, by that logic when someone asks me for directions in the street they should give me a fiver.

You HAVE to be a troll, but I gotta be honest... I agree with you on this one. The only things at a bar that warrant tipping are mixed drinks IMO.

If I was in town, and I was desperately running late, and you provided me with keen information, I'd probably through you a few pounds for the trouble.

If the bar serves food and the bartender gets it out right when it hits the window, that warrants a little tip too.

Wow, I feel like we live on different planets I wouldn't even remotely take money from someone for telling them directions. Where I'm from it's called being polite, it doesn't need payment.

I'd at least offer, it's up to you to accept it.

I'd find it somewhat patronising. Like a charity case. Attempting to give me money for directions!

And I'd find it patronizing that you found me patronizing, culminating in my saying, "Fine then, wank off, you could have had a tin of biscuits!"
