The bars we go to are more suited to people over 30. Good food, pricier, better atmosphere, overall a better quality of clientele. I frequently go to a "bar" on sundays, it's funny to make fun of people under 30, how they can't dress and just how stupid they are. Most people there 30s is the younger portion of the crowd, mainly yacht and boat people as it's close to a high priced marina.

Perhaps the OP's question would be better if instead of "go to bars" he had said "their entire social lives revolve around hanging out at bars."

Nothing wrong with going to bars on occasion. Or, around here, they have dart leagues, pool leagues, and there's a slow pitch softball league made up of taverns (home team brings a keg.) But, hanging out at bars for more than a total of 20 hours a week?? If you're saying that people should just "myob", then I assume you mean that no actions of other people should qualify them as "losers" - or in other words, there's "no such thing as losers."

Yeah there are definitely very different types of people that come into the bars that I work out for various reasons on various days. You really can't put a label on any of them simply by being there.

My view of this is one sided, so what does ATOT think? Are people who are in their 30's that still go to the bar or nightclubs every week losers?

Anyone who goes to the clubs every week is a loser. But it's perfectly fine to go out every once in a while up until you're 40 or so, IMO. I'm 26 and I enjoy going out once every 4-6 weeks or so.

bars? no, not really.

clubs? a little.

I've got a 32 year-old friend who hits the clubs every Friday night. he can't figure out why he can't find a nice girl to settle down with, but the only place he's looking are night clubs on Friday and Saturday nights.

Sorry Moonbeam, but that makes you the loser. There's nothing wrong with people enjoying themselves in a social setting. It could be a nightclub, a pub, a sports bar, or a book club.

The only reason why I would think a person is a loser is when they try to act outside of their age.

This is true but you fail to realize that the kind of folk who can enjoy themselves anywhere don't go to bars. Everywhere I go, I'm there.

You're never a loser doing anything you want, especially if you're doing it with a lot of money.

fuck, that sounds worse than your average douch-nozzle club littered with 22 year-old, 4loco-pounding cocknecks.

Boat people are good people. Seeing the 50+ year guys getting hammered can be kind of fun, they start telling you what they REALLY think.

My wife and I go to the VFW a couple nights a week and hang out with all of those 60+ year old losers who spent time in Vietnam or Korea. Bunch of losers.

I like to hang in clubs that have local bands, it's always nice to see up and comers. I'm 47.

This is perfectly fine. You're going to entertainment. I think they're talking about the 30's "Gonna get me some drunk poon!" guys.

Hell, I go to the local bar on my own sometimes (I'm 40).

Its nice to sit in a cosy armchair reading a book by an open fire with a good pint.

How the hell does that qualify for loserdom?

What planet are you people from?

"Going to a bar" is not synonymous with the hammer smashed shit faced extravaganza that is a college bar. Going out for dinner and/or drinks with friends is a completely normal social event, and where do you do that? Often times the place where you can get drinks is...a bar!

I don't even go to bars that often. And when I do, I look around and see mostly normal people of multiple age groups. A lot of them are working class, which I guess makes them losers to begin with?

Nothing good comes out of bars. Even business deals you make have culpable deniability built in. Plenty of good people go in.

I go to bars so I can draw the flowcharts for my new start-up on beer-stained napkins. I could do the same thing at home but when they make the movie about me it's so much more awesome having done the work on beer-stained napkins.

When I drink I'm either on my boat with only male friends or Friday Poker night at my friends auto body shop. Which is not too often. Drinking fucks up my running and I'll leave chunks next day on track. I usually take Saturdays off for this reason.

If they're actually getting drunk poon on a regular basis there is nothing wrong with that.
