My view of this is one sided, so what does ATOT think? Are people who are in their 30's that still go to the bar or nightclubs every week losers?
 
Meh, I go to bars to watch games with friends or I sometimes just meet up with old buddies at a local bar. If that makes me a loser, then so be it. /shrug

Every week---yeah, that means you are looking at the meat market or have no life.

That's something most people grow out of by 25 at latest. Once in a while is fine, but when you get older and you say stuff like "Wow..can't wait until the weekend to get smashed!!!", people start thinking you have a problem.

BTW- everyone on Jersey Shore fits this category.

I'm talking about people that go out EVERY Friday/Saturday.

Not necessarily.

I dont do it, but I'm not a drinker and as I'm sure any regular ATOT poster knows, I am not sociable.

I do feel really sorry for people in their 40's, 50's, and 60's who routinely spend most of their evenings at bars. Saw that a lot when I was in the Navy and used to go out with friends. If you seriously have that much free time you should probably hit the gym or take some night classes or read a book or get a dog or SOMETHING. But hanging out at the exact same watering hole Cheers-style is not cool. Its a huge fucking waste of your life.
 
IF someone 30 is going to a college bar then yes i would think that is kinda weird..

there are 2 bars i enjoy going to. the avarage age of the peopel that are there are is around 40.


i turn 37 (shit..im getting old) in 2 weeks. no way in hell would i go to a college bar. though..hooking up with a hot college girl sounds fun (lol sure like that would happen). I prefer going to a bar where i can get a beer under $7 and hear the person next to me.

I see plenty of people at the bars on Sunday watching the football game. I don't think they are losers. The are just hard working people looking for a good time before they need to continue the 9-5 grind on the weekdays.

I think the op meant people going to bars and clubs at 11pm+ and staying out all night. Not the "meet at a sports bar to catch the game in mid afternoon" crowd.
 
I just turned 30 and haven't really started dating or going to bars. You'd probably say that it means I was already a loser, so I guess I'm a double-loser if I suddenly decide that time is slipping away so it's time to start checking out the bar scene. Eh, who cares what you think.
 
You're only a loser if you're at a bar that is not within your age. For example if you're 30 do not go to a college bar full of just 21yr olds.

Other than that I think it's perfectly fine.
 
Nope, not at all. Why do people need to stop going to bars when they reach a magic age? A bar's a place to meet friends, get a drink, watch a game, eat something, etc. Hell, I'm married and so are most of my friends, and we all still go and meet up there.

Of course, the kinds of bars we go to have changed. It might be a little weird if we were hanging out at the same places we'd go to right out of college when we were just trying to get as drunk as possible and meet women.

Thats what I keep telling the kids in my class but they never listen to me.
They show up late without any homework done. I ask them if they were having lots of sex or drugs. They always say no.
I tell them theres no fucking excuse for not doing schoolwork then.

If they arent going to study it should be for a damn good reason, like they were enjoying life.

People who act like children in their 30s are losers. Going to the bar is evidence of that, but far from conclusive. If that was the only information you gave, I'd say no, not losers.
