When I first moved here, I kept getting calls for someone named Mrs. Nguyen. Some of the calls were from a highschool and preschool asking why her son/daughter weren't there that day. But most of the calls for her were from people speaking Chinese(I think it was Chinese). I would tell the person I didn't understand them, and say they have the wrong number. Sometimes the same person would call back like 10 minutes later. I was getting those calls for the fist 3 or 4 months I was living here. There was also a couple of days someone was calling at 3am for Josh.

When i was single i got a phone call from a girl looking for a guy named tom.

Well i let her know he didnt live there but we got to talking for about 20 minutes. well we hit it off pretty well so she asked if i wanted to have lunch with her. i figured since i didnt have anything to make for dinner i said yes!

Well we meet up at a local pub/grill and had dinner. I got there first and got a table. about 5 minutes after i got there a nice tall good looking women with a great body. she introduced herself and we had lunch.

Actually we hit it off really well. But i didnt have a chance in heck with dateing her :( but thats ok we are still good friends.

My friend said "I'm you!" and hung up.

;)

Anyway, I used to mess people up with my outgoing message on my answering machine -- I'd have a message that had me pretending as if I were actually answering the phone: "Hello...? Hello...? Sorry, I can't hear you! Hello...? Oh, sorry, I'm not home right now. Leave a message -- bye!"

I fooled lots of people more than once with that. :D

I had a weird number story yesterday! I've got 3 voice messages on my cell phone from some guy saying some weird stuff as if like I've made the calls to him first but I didn't say anything. He went on telling me to stop calling him, and don't mess with his family, and if I want some pot, just stop by, but don't hurt his family, or I will kill you, etc. and the weirdest thing was when I pressed 5 to see what number this guy was calling from, it read out my old apt phone number that I've moved out off since March of this year. Very weird huh? The only thing I can think of is that my cell phone was messed up and dialed the number on its own, but I don't have my old apt phone number in memory at all.

"No sir, we quit carrying that title"

"Sure, would you like me to reserve a copy for you?"

"Yeah, we have it, but it's 10.95 instead of our regular 3.99 price"

I've had a few weird messages on my machine. There was one that sounded important so I called the person back and told them they called the wrong number.

Gotta love wrong numbers.
Usually I'm nice but for a while when we moved in here we kept getting wrong number calls a lot.
One thing I would do is if they were calling for say Bill, I would respond Ok, but do you really want to talk to a fish?
Kept getting calls for this one guy, finally I was there and answered it. Told them "he's dead" and hung up. They never called back after that. :p

Wrong numbers are always fun. Especially when after you tell the caller that they got the wrong number they start asking you for information about the person they were trying to call.

This is another subject completely but my cousin had the best idea when it came to telemarketers. He would answer the phone and when he discovered that it was a marketer would tell them that he was interested and to please hold on while he got a pen. He would then promptly hand the phone to one of his 3 year old twin boys and tell them they had a phone call. Kevin and Kyle would put hose people through the ringer until they got bored with it or whoever hung up. Had to be one of the funniest things ever. Those kids lived for those phone calls.

A couple of years ago I started getting phones calls from different guys asking for somebody named Cindy. I told them that there was no Cindy at my telephone number. A couple of the guys kept calling asking for her and one argued with me demanding that I let him talk to her. I stopped the Cindy phone calls by putting the following message on my answering macihine:
"If you are calling for Cindy, she gave you the wrong number. If I were you I would take this as her way of telling you to piss off. If you are not calling for Cindy please leave a message. Thank you."

A couple years back when I got an electronic answering vocie box through my telephone company (ie. takes messages when the line is busy), the main message was you have reach the XXXXXX family please leave a message. So some dude calls and says............ "the XXXXXX family?" then he starts saying 'Hi Sharon........... last night you were so sexy" blah blah blah blah blah........... please come over and blah blah blah............. I'm so hot etc.......... this goes on for a couple minutes.

So I call back & start telling him off & saying that this is Sharon's boyfriend & I'm going to kick you @ss ;) blah blah blah blah........... he said 'Sorry' then hungs up............. I then continued calling him off & on for 2 month saying stuff like 'hey dick head have you been leaving hang up calls on my phone' and I guess I freaked him out & he changed his number ;)

Cheers,
Aquaman

i get pissed off for random people who call my cell and use up my minutes,.......
and there were some people who keep doing it that sometimes i wonder if they're just doing it intentionally (maybe prank calls??)

i mean i've done some prank calls when i was young... but it's just stupid once you grow up.

This reminds me of the Arnold Schwarznegger Clip Prank Phone call mp3 files. TOTALLY HILARIOUS. They take sound bites from various Arny movies (Predator, Kindergarden Cop, Commando, and a few others) and then try to prank call various people (Hooters Restuarants, Angry Guys, Asian Ladies, Pizza delivery, you name it!)

OMG this reminds me of something happened ages back..

Some girl called me saying that she liked me in Kindergarten and she still loves me. And I was like WTF?! How the heck can you even remember that far back, oreven have my number (I moved to another city from the original Kindergarten area.) So I kept saying I dont know who the heck she is, and she was getting all suicidal and saying she was going to call the cops on me and stuff. I was getting scared sh1tless and I kept hanging up but she kept calling back. This went on for 30 minutes +, and I eventually unplugged ALL of the phones. I dont' quite remember how long I left em off because she never called back. Keep in mind I was just a little kid in elementary school when all of this happened. Gah! :p

I had following conversation few months ago.

Him: "Hi Antti (a finnish name in case you are wondering)!"
Me: "Ummm, I'm not Antti, you must have a wrong number"
Him: "Oh... Well is Antti there with you?"
Me: "No. Like I said, you must have a wrong number"
Him: "Well, do you know anyone named Antti?"
Me: "No I do not! This is a wrong number!"
Him: "are you sure?"
Me: "Yes I am sure"
Him: "OK.... *click*"

I had an off and on romance with a guy I only knew from the phone (and from an accidental call). We never met in person, although he knew where I lived and I would see him drive by sometimes.

That's kind of (ok, not just "kind of") creepy... but I suppose it beats the jarhead who could only talk about cleaning his guns..

Why not be in a romance with a great, normal guy?

Earlier this summer someone selling a car listed my phone number in the classified ads by mistake. Eventually I got tired of the standard 'sorry, wrong number' gig because they'd inevitably call right back to make sure they didn't misdial.

<caller> "Hi. I'm calling about the Tempo you have listed in the paper."
<me> "Erm. Yeah. I'm afraid I can't sell it now. Seems the fuel injector got stuck and the backfire blew the muffler up through the trunk and into the neighbor's yard."

If you make the callers no longer want whatever it is they're calling about, they don't call back :)
