I was wondering if I could get some of your opinions on a question that I have which I
am unsure of, I have two Toshibha notebooks which I would like to put to use appropriately based on performance :

1) 490XCDT : PII 266Mhz, 160MB RAM.

2) 4090XDVD : Celeron 400Mhz, 64MB RAM.
(L1 cache :32kb, L2 cache:128KB on cpu)

Although there is a obvious difference in the
Proccessor speed based on the numbers mentioned above,
knowing that Celeron is ranked lower than the Pentium
class how would you compare the two based on overall
performance ?

PII with relatively low proccessor speed (266) with
higher memory (160 RAM)

VERSUS

Celeron with relatively high proccessor speed(400mhz)
with lower memory (64mb ram).

I'd go for the Celeron, but the 64MB of RAM needs to be expanded to get decent performance.

i agree with andy...the celeron and the p2 are basically the same performance clock for clock, so go with the celeron, and maybe if u have the $$$ u can add alittle more ram...u can never have too much u know ;)

go for the celery, it will usualy beat out a PII at the same speed, at least that was the case with the desktop versions.
