I love this chip. It's a core i3 without hyperthreading, low power and spunky performance...at $66. Unreal.

I've owned a core i3 530 for a few years and have had a core i7 laptop for almost a year, and this G2120 hangs right in there for what I do (obviously not in re-encoding or the like).

I'm much more impressed with the gains in throughput for hard drives and USB 3.0 than any processor improvements over the last few years. If you're not a gamer (like me), it's an awfully cheap time to be a computer enthusiast.

Mary Ann was hotter than Ginger.

There was one time in the show when they dressed her up like Ginger dressed, and it was clearly evident how much more attractive she was.

Having said that, she looked damn fine in her normal dress of pigtails and short shorts.

I have often thought in Intel's line up, that the only two CPU's that make much sense, are either something like the G2120 or the i5 - 4670K and nothing below, inbetween, or above, seem worth it.

Yeah once the OSes and basic programs stopped to expand with their ram and CPU usage(or let's say hardware exceeded that) it's just best to buy Celeron/Pentium/Sempron for office applications. i3 is still good for hardcore stuff too.

I feel the same way about even the G1610. Kickass processor for the small bux it costs. Just add modern chipset (B75), and a small SATA6G SSD, and you're rockin'.

Edit: For a semi-computer-literate relative, it was a tangible improvement over a Celeron 440 and a HDD.

Definitely agree about Ginger.

^Ginger man, I see. 🙂

To be fair, I think she's almost 70 there, not exactly peak age for physical attractiveness.

My dad's P4 has served him quite well, but I was planning a cheap-o APU build for him (Hotmail and stock quotes don't require much CPU). I have a spare power supply, memory, hard drive, optical drive and case. I will check this CPU out too, thanks! In fact I hadn't really considered a Pentium at all, it may be a good option.

Been torn between the celeron g1620 and this pentium g2120,need a test cpu and possible replacement cpu for a system that housed a i5 2500 that had a board and memory fry and even possibly the cpu due to a electrical short.

Thinking the g1620 would be the chip to be sure that the new board and memory will work, worst case the i5 fails to work then i might regret the g2120 and for the most demanding game i play being BF3,i guess there will not be a major difference in performance between the two chips when matched with a gtx650?

If the i5 still works, the chip of choice will still have a purpose eventually in a upcoming build for my wife for facebook, cod black ops and youtube.

I don't know the difference between that Celeron and the G2120, but I'd be surprised if they were comparable in anything other than GPU intensive activities.

So who's that in the pic? Looks like a cleaner version of Tracy Lords.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with this. I wouldn't hold a similar view with laptops because the nature of the use is different, but for desktops, this isn't a bad philosophy at all.

More i think about it,the more the $75 looks like a wise decision to spend on the g2120 over the $60 g1620 as you get 1mb more cache, and gain 400mhz .

Now the g2130 itself looks like a rip off costing $25 more for 100mhz advantage over the g2120......

Curious as to where the $120 i3 2100 stands being a last generation sandy bridge and the cheapest dual core with ht when compared to the $100 g2130 which has a 100mhz advantage as well as ipc improvements being a ivy bridge.🙂
