Let me know when you get it, i hope its teh P965-S Black Infinity. I m thinking of getting a ThermalTake Kandalf LCS Tower so i have some water cooling for the CPU. Orthos runs almost 80 degrees Celsius with 3.5ghz i need to get the temps down =). So i actually can do 3.6ghz +++

I bought my E2140 retail for $80 at Mwave. It shipped the same day I placed my order.

I want to build a new over clocking budget system this month around the e2140 or e2160 cpus. I don?t do gaming so the limited 1mb cache on a 2140/2160 will not really affect me. My uses will be Photoshop, Dreamweaver, email and surfing.

I was thinking of getting a new P35 motherboard for future proofing and if I ever wanted to upgrade to a newer faster CPU somewhere down the line.

Since the price is comparable which one you think will be a better over clocker?
- Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R -$139 at newegg
- ASUS P5K (vanilla) - $149 at newegg

The next question is which CPU will be the better overvlocker? (keep in mind the above motherboards)
- E2160 1.8 Ghz with a multiplier of 9x
- E2140 1.6 Ghz with a multiplier of 8x

I looking at basic over clocking with stock fan or a modest cpu fan upgrade.

Thanks

p.s. right now i leaning towards the asus p5k (vanilla) because it has 2 more usb ports and a ieee port when compared to the P35-DS3R. But higher and stable OC is more important to me.

Hmm, is there a reason my 2160 won't get to Windows with the 9x multiplier on?

Core Speed: 2800.0 MHz
Multiplier: x 8.0
Bus Speed: 350.0 MHz
Rated FSB: 1400 MHz

It won't go to 9 :-
Any ideas?

I am using the Gigabyte P35 motherboard too.
And PNY Optima Memory DDR2-667

Can't get my E2140 go past ~360FSB even on DFI P965-S. It's even more aggravating because I'm doing it with default voltage. (auto) :| Maybe I should try 800 strap or even 533 strap? I've been trying it on 1066 strap. For now I've given up the 100% OC until new BIOS comes up. Toying around with a new E6600..

The 2160 can only run on a 9x multi as far as i have figured out. For you i would say its the P35 who gives some problems. When i started 8 x400 and booted into windows it still showed 3.6ghz and multi at 9x. While the bios was telling me different.
