Well, someone bunkered a bunch of yoyo WUs for BOINCStats. Now they are even with us for total points.

We are due to gain 6pts soon in WCG, and assuming some additional help with LHC, we have opportunity to gain there as well.

Last minute bunkering....weird. And yet can cause an opponent to relax I suppose. 🙂

Meisterkuehler.de is about to Steam Roller us in WCG, but there's nothing we can do to stop a top ten team in that regard. So we are about to lose 3 points there, but then gain 6 pts in the next few days.

Anything to prevent a tie with the same team as last year!! 😎

I'm all in on LHC and Boincstats is gradually pulling away from us. If we pick up 3 points on WCG, we tie them. If we pass them on LHC we pick up 3 points and they lose 3 points so we will have 17th place to our own.

Maybe I'm just too competitive. 😛

What should we be crunching, LHC or WCG?

I suggest half and half, with an emphasis on WCG. We can DEFINITELY gain there, 3-9 points.

I don't know what we can do in LHC as a team, there's not been much contribution, but I'm confident we can pick up points there if we put a bit more effort into that one as well.

I am only absolutely certain of one thing, and that is that we will LOSE points if we don't get more going into LHC.

I think I've figured out why it's so hard to get points in LHC. Many of the WUs (wzero's) have a quorum of, not one, not two, but five! It looks like work_case_0's only have a quorum of 2, so those would be better to work on. But I don't think you can choose what kind of work you get.

You are probably right, Ken_g6. OTOH: in this race with quite a few racers, the probability of getting a quorum of 5 is much larger than usually ...

I have 48 cores committed to LHC. I have given up on WCG because the WUs I had were all with a runtime of >25 hours ...

On WCG I'd restricted myself, some time ago, to Mapping Cancer Markers and Uncovering Genome Mysteries. Both have 7-day timeouts and they have execution times of ~8 hours and ~5 hours respectively.

Genome and Ebola are the shortest ones to choose for WCG, as far as crunch times, if you're looking to contribute there for this last 27 hour stretch of the race.

LHC crunch times are all over the place, I've some crunching in 23 minutes, most in 2-3 hours, and some have exceeded 12 hours.

Let's crunch till the end! Then we get a short break and resume our internal race, running NFS I believe?

Yes, NFS it is.

By the way, does anybody know what happened to pics.bbzzdd.com? Is the site gone? Down temporarily? None of our pics in the other thread are awailable ... have not seen any notice or mail about shutting down ... 🙁

I have 13 pages of work units pending validation in WCG and another 11 pages worth in progress. Hopefully they'll get approved soon to give us a few extra points...

For days it looked like we had a shot at climbing two spaces in WCG. In the end both those teams turned up the heat and just barely managed to stay ahead of us.

But it's over, and we experienced neither loss nor gain, finishing 18th, UNDER BoincStats. 🙁

I was hoping to find last year's results to see how we competed against ourselves but was unable to find a results page. Anyway, here's our totals for 2015.

For the 6th BOINC Pentathlon Invitational, the TeAm scored 15,184,377 points:

WCG: 2,574,459
Malaria Control 445,726
Einstein 11,182,210
yoyo 777,644
LHC 204,338

For comparison, BOINCStats scored 9,932,404 total.
And GridCoin, ahead of BoincStats, scored 14,913,633.

We beat them both in terms of total score, so WELL DONE TeAm!!!!

On a personal note, in WCG, due to this race, I've risen 57,352 places in Project Rank. I, uh, was pretty far down on the totem pole, with only about 150k points. 🙂 I still am low on the pole, but that number looks impressive, regardless. 🙂

Thanks for a good race and some god stats!
Yes we did OK in this race - but we will do better next time - once I'll upgrade my computers ... 🙂
