If it was a plane and they have FAA radar records, just run them back and match up the plane. Within a day we should have had a report from the FAA saying that it was XXX plane out of XXX airport and that everything matched up and blah blah blah. It is pure incompetence that this wasn't and hasn't been done. I can understand that the government doesn't want to be seen as responding to every crank with a shaky video of a supposed UFO but this is a little different.

It has been done. The FAA has no record of it.

From what I have read, all they did is scan through the records looking for a fast moving, unidentified aircraft. They didn't take the time to match up the time and approximate location with an actual plane.

That's the way I read the report, as well. That they had no unidentified objects in their radar. They did not comment as to whether or not it was confirmed to be an identified object.

You read it wrong. They were talking about "unidentified" aircraft, not standard commercial flights. They didn't say they didn't know what it was, they said they know it wasn't anything they couldn't identify.

Somewhat silly response though.

It's like asking someone if they know what time it is and the response being "yes."

Funny how it is now an airplane not a missile. The other day they had sent ships to intercept what they thought would be where the missile remains would hit the water. Now it is a plane ? The people on those ships must feel foolish now looking for something that never existed

I hate to say it because I am no UFO conspiracy nut, but this is the same pattern of events that took place in Roswell. First it was aa UFO, then two days later it was a weather balloon.

Petranus, Correct. They may not know what specific flight it was or anything (which seems silly) but there was nothing found that would be cause for alarm. (so they say). I'm not saying I believe them, just how I interpret their message.

All things point to it being a jet/plane and a crazy optical illusion taking place on a sunset.

On the Daily Show, Jon Stewart showed a clip of the helicopter pilot who was tracking object. He said he was tracking it for 10 minutes!

and? it was just a plane. It was proven to be moving way too slowly for a rocket, more in line with the speed of a commercial jet. Simply an optical illusion caused by a perfect storm of angle, perspective, and time of day.
