If you can show that the culture still exists in Penn State, then by all means, nuke it.

But if that culture has already been eradicated by Penn State, then nuking the football program serves no rational purpose.

So if you think it's still there, show us some evidence to support that position.

Trustee statements post convictions. A trustee elected during the scandal on the platform of securing a public apology from the state of Pennsylvania to the Paterno family and to name Joe Paterno head coach emeritus posthumously. These statements were even made after the Joe paterno emails.

I realize you haven't made a post in here until you thought you could stir the pot, but you need to at least take 5 minutes to familiarize yourself with the facts of the situation.

In a 2005 e-mail from Dr. Vicky Triponey, then vice president of student affairs in charge of disciplining students, to athletic director Tim Curley and others, she summarizes a meeting they had with Paterno in which he tells her that he wants to be the sole disciplinarian of his players.

She criticizes Paterno for wanting to limit the Campus Code of Conduct to incidents that take place on campus and keeping disciplinary matters involving his players private. "Coach Paterno would rather we NOT inform the public when a football player is found responsible for committing a serious violation of the law and/or our student code -- despite any moral or legal obligation to do so," according to her e-mail.

I remember there being mention that Penn State had a bunch of players getting arrested and not much was being made of it when other programs were getting lots of national attention over every little thing.

I was actually thinking that happened right around the time that there was talk about forcing Paterno to retire after they had a few lackluster seasons, but I guess it was after.

Of course they had a 10 or 11 win season and suddenly it was back to how great of a coach and man Paterno was.

I wonder how this all would have turned out if Paterno had been ousted back then. Would it have faded, maybe blown up bigger (like if Paterno resisted and so they out all of this stuff), or maybe it would have been more of a footnote that few people seem to know about (like that Red Sox situation).
 
Freeh report due out today. Initial reports suggest no one in the Paterno family slept last night without the aid of prescription meds. 😛

“The most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized. Messrs. Spanier, Schultz, Paterno and Curley never demonstrated, through actions or words, any concern for the safety and well-being of Sandusky’s victims until after Sandusky’s arrest.”

“Penn State failed to implement the provisions of the Clery Act, a 1990 federal law that requires the collecting and reporting of the crimes such as Sandusky committed on campus in 2001. Indeed, on the day Sandusky was arrested, Penn State’s Clery Act implementation plan was still in draft form. Mr. Spanier said that he and the Board never even had a discussion about the Clery Act until November 2011.”

...not looking good thus far.
 
Exhume Paterno's body for a posthumous drawing and quartering, after what Sandusky did they need to get medieval on all they asses.
 
More idiocy by Paterno in a letter right before his death:
(CNN) -- Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno wrote a letter before his death saying the sex abuse scandal involving his assistant coach was "not a football scandal."

His family authenticated the letter, written late last year, after it emerged Wednesday.

"This is not a football scandal and should not be treated as one," wrote Paterno, who died in January. "It is not an academic scandal and does not in any way tarnish the hard-earned and well-deserved academic reputation of Penn State."

I actually came here to post this. This not only prove he didn't get it, also brings to mind the sanity of his family and lawyers by deciding to publish this. None of them get it. This letter does absolutely nothing but taint his name even more. Wtf.

Absolutely disgusting. Screw the death penalty. The football program should be shut-down forever. Remove Paterno's name from the library and blow-up his statue.
 
This report confirms what everyone suspected and the leaders denied...it was a huge disgraceful coverup by PSU President Spanier, vice president Schultz, coach Paterno and athletic director Curley.
