...and a lot of them won't be, and the settlements for turning a blind eye to a child molester are going to be substantial.

I've said it before, PSU's athletics are in serious shit if they're found liable in civil cases.

I thought I read that in PA, the statute of limitations has already expired for lawsuits?

at this point (ain't it up to 40 victims?) i think society would be better off with just shooting him in the head.

So far he's been charged with 40 counts on a total of 8 victims (ie multiple accounts per victim.)

Interesting - I hadn't read that. Wonder why JoePa et al are all lawyering up, then? IIRC in some states (and at the Federal level?), there is no statute of limitations on more serious crimes like murder and rape...?

Fuck, now Syracuse basketball assistant coach Bernie Fine (been there as long as Jim Boeheim) is being accused of child molestation. School has put him on administrative leave. I love SU, this is going to suck.

NCAA sends letter to Penn State president:

http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect...sident+mark+emmert+sends+letter+to+penn+state

Like everyone who has read the grand jury report, we are all deeply disturbed by the alleged sexual abuse of children as well as the alleged response by Penn State officials. After careful analysis of the Association’s institutional control and ethics policies, Dr. Emmert has sent a letter to Penn State President Erickson stating this unprecedented situation demands the NCAA evaluate the university’s accountability with regard to those policies and directing specific questions to the university about its application of NCAA bylaws. While the criminal justice process clearly takes precedence over any NCAA actions, the Association is closely monitoring the situation. Dr. Emmert has also spoken by phone with President Erickson, who has pledged Penn State’s full cooperation with the NCAA review.

In many states the statute of limitations does not begin running until the alleged victim reaches the age of majority.

Ex) When I used to work auto accidents the statute of limitations was three years unless the injured was a minor then it was three years from when they turn 18.

I would think in a situation where the school can cover it up then the statue of limitations would be void.

I doubt it. Any of the victims could have gone to the police at any time. Though I do think that the statute of limitations should be longer for minors. (if it already isn't.. im not sure)

This tactic has been used many times before.

When a person is in big trouble, play the sympathy card and hope that the media backs off.

So what *physical* evidence do they have related to this case?

They have the word of a man who keeps changing his story and now one of the men (who was a boy at the time) is backing Sandusky's claim of horseplay but no sexual contact.

Sounds like this case is all based on hearsay and conjecture and that a lot of people jumped to conclusions.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Sandusky admitted showering with boys on a recorded phone conversation.

Seriously? Did you read the grand jury report?

There are very explicit testimony in there.

You're welcome to assume he is innocent until a bunch of toothless alcoholic hillbillies travel down from the appalachians in their sputtering pickup and finally hand a judge a misspelled handwritten note on a piece of wrinkled paper pulled from some overalls that wreak of moonshine to a judge with the word guilty on it.

But as far as I'm concerned, guilty is guilty as soon as his pnis enters the rectal cavity of a 10 year old boy.

And what is illegal about that.
You do know that there is a difference between showing with boys, horseplay with boys (probably inappropriate), and sexual assault (illegal).

I am just saying that this guys life has been destroyed for being suspected of a crime.

Since when is it ok to shower naked with 10 year olds and fondle them?
