40 charges of child sexual abuse and people are still defending these monsters?

And by monsters, I mean the molesters and anyone who knew about it and did nothing...Jose Paterno included.

Damn!

The judge who let Sandusky out on 100K bail was a Second Mile volunteer.

The prosecuter wanted 500K and a ankle bracelet. Is the entire legal system on the take in this case??

Also news article said the view out a window of Sandusky's house was a playground!

How far down does the rabbit hole go? Jeez.

Should just hire a hitman to kill off Sandusky, will save everyone a lot of trouble. Then take the time to investigate who else was involved.

What percentage chance do you guys think that there will be a Penn St. football season next year? I'm thinking it's ~20%

"Cleaning house" involving the firing the AD and his group of managers, PLUS the coaching staff? Hard to see them managing to bring in a new AD and hire a coach at the same time. They might have to hire an interim AD to rebuild the entire athletic department.

I honestly think that the football program needs to go, without question. If only for five or ten years if not indefinitely--it needs to go.

sadly, that will likely mean the end of the entire Athletic Department, but perhaps that is necessary (depending on how far this cesspool goes). This is starting to become a community-wide indictment on not only State College, of not only the University system, but also of the general public to what kind of preposterous importance we place in big-time collegiate athletics.

Yeah, it would be good to just eliminate the program. College athletics is one of the most corrupt institutions in our culture.

i give it damn near 100% that there will be a football program at teh college next year. why not? bring in all new people.

why punish the players? the kids going to the school on football scholarships and such didn't do a damn thing wrong.

everyone needs fired i agree. but to cancel the program is stupid.

I'm saying that it would be hard to hire all new Athletic Department staff AND a completely new football coaching staff. I don't see them doing that in a couple months.

Agreed. Why punish the student athletes?

Get ride of the assholes that were covering for Sandusky.

The kids would probably be better off transferring.

and who is to say there are 85 slots open for them to transfer to? or 85 schools that will give them a scholarship?

its not as easy as you make it out to be.

sure hireing a whole new staff would be a pain. but far easier then 85 kids transferring. I guess the school can bite it and lose all the money the football department would bring in and pay for the kids school anyway. but that won't happen (and it shouldn't)

Wow it turns out Paterno is actually to blame for all this. When he hired Sandusky he told him to find the best tight ends available.

I still think there's a decent chance that the NCAA will weigh in once the dust settles. So many people did so much that is not in keeping with the standards of conduct of the NCAA...

I almost gurentee the NCAA will stick its nose in it. though they really shouldn't.

I, too, believe there's damn near a 100% chance there will be a football program next year.

Penn State just needs a total clean up replacing everyone (or nearly everyone). They should investigate first, the take action. Anybody who has been involved in the football program for any length of time is likely tainted and needs to go.

I don't think they'll have any trouble finding replacements. Jobs at top-level Div 1 programs aren't easy to come by and the new people get will leeway and a clean slate to start over.

Also, they have until Spring to put together a football staff. IIRC, NCAA rules prevent any practice until then. The Penn State BOT just needs to first get a new AD, even if (s)he is an interim one, and then work with them to find a new HC. The new HC then assembles his staff. Most coaches aren't fired until the season is over and they don't seem to have much trouble getting it together in time for Spring practice.

What did BJ Penn do to deserve a nuke? I guess he kind of sucked in his last fight but this seems like overkill.
