I can do the pen spinning around all fingers and bring it back to the start, for a continuous pen flipping... from pinky-ring-middle-index-repeat.

It's basically a sonic going through all the fingers.

That's a Fingerpass.

A sonic is when the pen does a complete 360 and "transfers" between fingers. A fingerpass is when the pen "flips" from finger to finger.

You can only do up to two sonics in a row...this is called a Sonic Rise, or Sonic 34-23-12 (1 is index, 2 is middle, 3 is ring, 4 is pinky).

I just looked at the fingerpass, and it isn't what I'm doing. I'm doing sonics ..from pinky to index fingers.

Wow Sonic Rise is a tough trick. for you!

Here is a video of a Sonic Rise.

Hey cool thread!

In junior high I sat next a kid who was a drummer. All throughout class he'd spin his pencil like it was a drum-stick. Not the most technically advanced thing, but it sure looked cool.

So, I asked him how he did it, and he showed me. It took some practice, but now I can spin my pen or pencil between my middle finger and second finger, making it look like the pen is spinning continously. Always a fun thing to do when you are bored.

I knew one other guy who could do the back and forth motion, making it look like he was rotating the pencil b/w his pencils back and forth. I never asked him how he did it though. Personally I think pen tricks are kinda neat - nothing dorky about them really - they are just the products of idle hands and boring lectures. 😉
