According to Reuters, CNN and CBC Canada Jamie Sale and David Pelletier will be awarded
a gold medal (pairs figure skating) by the IOC at an upcoming press conference in about 30
minutes. The Russian skaters will also get to keep their gold medals. Will post links once

She's hardly made any mention of it in the 20 or so hours of media coverage and
interviews I've seen.
 
That's cool. I think more Olympic events should have two gold medals. In fact, I've always believed that *everyone* who shows up at the Olympics should get one because they've all tried so hard

Just goes to show that whinning and sniveling some times does pay off. This is more for their countrymen than for them. They were seen as the true Champs by many and whether they received a gold or not probably wouldn't have made much of a difference in their future earnings.

Normally I'd agree with you on a subject like this, Red... if the only outcry was from the Canadians, especially the skaters themselves. But the outcry over this has come from nearly every side. Even disinterested parties have complained over this, and serious corruption has been found... not only found, but admitted to.
 
This is stupid. Either give the medals to the Canadians and take them away from the Russians, or leave it alone. It's an incredible copout to award two sets. Gutless pukes.

Russ.. they awarded to silvers to the norwegian combination x-country skiers... why not 2 gold for obvious corruption.

What's stupid is that you don't know WHY they BOTH keep the medals

The reason they BOTH get medals is b/c they threw out the ruling of the French judge b/c she *@%&@# up. So that made the decision 4 - 4. Hence a tie. There were two silves given out in the Cross Country match yesterday.
 
The skaters didn't whine at all - they were really classy through all this.

Its kind of a copout to give 2 sets, but if the silver was awarded through corruption, then it needs to be remedied.

What coverage have you been watching? She has not blamed the collision on anyone.

They have both been class acts throughout the whole thing.

Yep, there is no reason to punish the Russian skaters because of the French Judge's corruption. Letting them both have gold is the only way to go here. Sad, but true.
