Peanut Butter wtf calories..suggestions?

250 for 1.5oz!(Jif) I must make 1kKc(heh) sandwiches in pb alone. Why is it so delicious?? Man I love nuts. Any suggestions on pb for a someone who regularly works out and loves pb/j? I do enjoy the natural peanut butters but I don't know if they have less calories in them or anything.

Peanuts and nuts in general are fairly healthy. Yes, high in calories, but also high in fiber, protein, nutrients, etc. Of all the crap you can eat, it's probably on the healthier side of things. Go for the natural version where it's just roasted nuts, oil, and salt, or go to a store where they fresh grind it for you. Or, make your own. (Sub out with almonds or other nuts)

Guy asks for advice on PB less than 250 calories per 1.5oz, you link him peanut butter with 190 calories per 1 oz (285 calories/1.5oz)

The only way you could reduce calories in PB is if you replaced the fats with nonessential carbohydrates. Moderation is ultimately the key when it comes to consumption of caloric dense foods.

While I like the PB2 stuff, it's in no way as remotely delicious as natural peanut butter

It's weird how you go crazy about the calories in the peanut butter part, but completely ignore the calories in the jam part.

I don't pack on 13 lbs of jam like I do with the PB. I use maybe a TBsp of jam. Also it is more like a brand recommendation. If I'm gonna go heavy on PB, I want the best PB. Jif is my standby but I do love naturals, there's just a bunch of brands of PB.

I usually don't get too upset about PB calories. It's delicious, provides nutrients, fiber and protein and it fills me up quick.

I eat a ton of the smuckers natural stuff, it's only ingredients are peanuts and less than 1% salt. I also eat a lot of unsalted almonds.

Just weigh out how much you use. It might be less than you think. You can pick up sugar free jam that's around 20calories per tbsp or something like that. Taste is fine to me but some people don't like it. They also have nut-rition, which has some extra fruit/granola/etc mixed in for some extra flavor. Macros are similar to regular pb.

definitely try almond butter also. that stuff is delicious. you can pick up a cheap jar at trader joe's.

I just read about two products you might be interested in. I still think using less than 2 tbsp would be the cheapest option but there's pb2:

It's pb that's been dehydrated and in the process the fats are removed along with certain nutrients. It looks like you use 2 tbsp and mix with some water, which nets about 2tsp? There's only 15 servings per jar so that's pretty expensive. Most people it seems use it for cooking/smoothies. People also use 1tbsp or 2tbsp and mix in with their jelly for pbj sandwiches. I think their serving size is 50 calories vs 160.

There's also better than peanut butter: http://www.betternpeanutbutter.com/index.php
Didn't really read too much about this but serving size is the same as regular pb (2 tbsp). Not sure what the taste is. I think cost is about $5 per jar, which is around the cost of almond butter. Looks like they sell it at target.

[edit] there's also nuts n more. It's pb with whey on it. These guys were on shark tank. Seems like you could make your own possibly.

Hmm thanks for all the info. I'm not too sure if I'd want the expensive stuff. The pb with whey in it is interesting. However I never really considered making my own PB, that would be pretty interesting. I could make some customized recipes then...hmm

Another vote for PB2. Unbelievably good product. I use it every day.

I actually bought "Just great stuff" powered pb when I went to Wegman's the other day, along with an organic pb. The stuff is surprisingly tasty, with a bit of an odd texture, but I still like it.

The woodstock organic PB I got is pretty good. The PB is VERY sticky and will just cling to the roof of your mouth, but it is super tasty. The creamy even has tiny little pieces of peanuts you can see, and the color is nice.

PB is my kryptonite, I would eat them out of a jar in the spoonfuls and before you know it, I'm like 1/3 into the jar and I'm into it for like 1000 calories? :\

The chunky ones especially make it more difficult for me to stop cause of the crunchiness. 🙁
