You clearly haven't had fresh sugarcane juice. Try it. You will be surprised.

I'm probably more sugar sensitive than you are. But when I had my last glass of that, I also had about 300g of watermelon, and a decent meal of rice and chicken too. Had that been too much sugar for me, I would have immediately felt the ill effects of it, the most prominent one being that I start seeing floaters if my glucose gets too high. And my kidneys jam up and I piss out acidic urine.

Candy "tastes good" too.

I hate doing that. Too much work and at my age, I would probably damage some teeth.

Taiwan developed a cultivar that is softer, thinner and less sugary just for chewing. The vendor would skin the whole cane and cut into foot long sticks.

Not to me, it doesn't.

But I hear candy is the number one thing, the smell of which causes ladies to flood their nether regions with blood flow :p

The smell of cucumber being number 2. Apparently, perfumes are available with these scents to "entice" your girl :D

chocolates and I've never seen a woman bar a nun become sexually excited over cucumber. it might not have been a nun but it was a middle aged woman in a frock in sevilla.

Research has found that just smelling a specific scent can increase blood flow to the genitals. As a 1998 study found, the smell of Good and Plenty (yes, that candy), cucumbers, pumpkin pie, and lavender can arouse a woman. When combined, the scents have even more of an effect, with the combo of Good and Plenty and cucumber creating a 13 percent increase in blood flow to the genitals.
It's science.

i may be in the minority here but i like my peanut butter sandwiches with grapefruit or orange marmalade, or plain peanut butter on warmed bread, some extra butter and lashings of chili powder or hot sauce or sliced hot peppers.

Know what else is strangely delicious?

Peanut butter and tomato! (also try adding bacon!)

That's normal.

The things you should be worried about are:

Is your fasting blood glucose level high? 99 mg/dL is the max you can have. After that, you are courting diabetes.

Your triglycerides levels must not be high. These are what ACTUALLY cause diabetes.

Diabetes is not the inability of the body to process glucose.

It is actually the inability of the body to clear bad fatty acids from the blood.

When the bad fatty acids rise, your internal organs start getting covered with fat, particularly the liver and pancreas.

This diminishes their functions and may cause the pancreatic beta cells to start going dormant or diminishing their production of insulin.

THIS is what causes type 2 diabetes.

My fasting glucose on March 25, 2023 was 100 mg/dL, so slightly out of range. Seeing my past results, it's not really unusual for me. It was as high as 104 in July 2018. Before that it was usually below 100 going back to 2011.

My triglicerides on March 25, 2023:

my value: 83 mg/dLRange: <=499 mg/dL

So, I believe that's actually really good, right?

From what I've been told peanut butter & banana goes well with bacon too! :p
(never tried it)

Anyone familiar AT ALL with asian cuisine shouldn't be surprised in the slightest by peanuts (or cashews) tasting good with "savory" food or with "sweet" and "salty" working well together in general.

Yup. That's great!

You don't have to worry unless it starts going above 150 mg/dL.

Fasting glucose seems fine too.

Another thing you can check is post-prandial glucose (measure your glucose level 4 hours after a heavy meal). Usually, most of the carbs/starches should get digested, released into the blood and shuttled into cells or converted to fat in that timeframe. If the level is above 140 mg/dL, that's not good.

1.5 ounces of dried raisins contains approx 25 grams (!!) sugar. *(28 grams = 1 ounce)

That makes them about 75% sugar .... BEFORE any "coatings" they get in many cereals.

Yeah, but it's about a few raisins per 100g of bran flakes.

Yeah, but it's about a few raisins per 100g of bran flakes.

One cup of Kellogg's or Post brand (for examples) raisin bran contains 18-20 grams of sugar so not great .... more fiber too though so maybe less gets absorbed.

And how many folks add MORE sugar or honey etc on top of what's already in there ?!?

Haven't had cereal for at least a year. Just because I like it doesn't mean I buy it. I prefer my sugar more directly XD

One teaspoon of raw sugar per 750cc of coffee.

Scouring the ingredients lists of processed food for added sugars can be quite depressing.... but ALWAYS do it!
