If your answer is no, why not?

I just did about 5 mins ago :p I'd say that I sync through the cradle 75% of the time. The only time I sync through WiFi is if I'm in bed, loungin' in the living room, or on the crapper :D

Poor build quality - yes, see battery complaints
Screen - I don't think the screen is that bad, not nearly as nice as newer PDAs' but you have to remember it's a few generations old by now
WiFi - haven't had a problem, though I don't use WiFi too often
poor battery - yes and no, if you use it only as a PDA it's 2-3 hour lifespan should be sufficient unless you're using it constantly.

Brandon: any chance you might mention which model PDA that would be from? Am envious of the VGA.

Edit: Took my lazy self to the rig page, and found the X50v listed.

Do I take it or hold off.

How did you get that price? Using the Dellf 25% off coupon still has it at 370 or so.

how can you use the dellf 25% coupon? i thought they expired on 1/5

Wow, lots of good info in this thread. I was going to get Quicken, but if money can do that, I'm sold.

I got the Axim X30 with the same proc you got the 624mhz but half the internal ram/rom kidna sucks but at 275 the price was right...
added Windows media player and a 1 gig MMC card and its styling now..
just need to find apps and other stuff worth a darn to use....

cant even use it at work casue the wireless is locked down with Cisco LEAP authentication =/
and cant get a good enough connection tethered to my Nokia 6230 through bluetooth...

NFS where can i get java/flash/shockwave for my browser so i can truely display pages in all thier glory...
it works pretty good but things like the pull down menus on thottbott for WoW wont pull down...

I've got a 1GB CF card and that's all :) I ditched my Belkin Bluetooth GPS b/c it was just too finicky (dropped connection, and I hated having to drop down to go through the whole pairing process just to start up the GPS). So I bought a Navman ICN-510 stand-alone GPS unit to go in my car for $299 and have my Belkin unit on eBay right now :)

I used to have an e740. Heck, the previous owner was selling it for $150, which was incredibly good at that time (before e740 ebay auction end prices went down the tube).

The build quality was pretty pathetic. The battery didn't fit very well; you could nudge it about 2mm or so on one side because it wasn't well latched. The screen couldn't be called defective, but compared to my e755, it's not quite "whitewashed" but more "yellowwashed." And the thin piece of plastic on top cracked in two places: between the CF slot and the back of the PDA, the plastic is like under 1mm thick. Sure, there was a crack there, And the entire plastic black piece on top was starting to lift up because my finger kept pulling up on the protrusion on top. See pic.

The big thing is that this device hard resets whenever it feels like it! Towards the end of its existence in my hands, it started hard resetting 2+ times a day. Sometimes you'd turn it on, and it would just be on the "Welcome to Pocket PC" screen! Pretty aggravating. On one hard reset, I went right onto ebay to look for the fastest ending e755 auction, and I haven't looked back.

The e740 was theoretically so good, but it didn't deliver. 400mhz chip, yet clunky and unstable performance. ATi imageon video chip, yet a cheesy screen behind it and an unsuitable d-pad/buttons for gaming. Wifi, yet short battery life, especially if the wifi was turned on. Now, the e755 is another matter. Other than not having a VGA screen, it has pretty much everything I want, and some extra features too :)

Toshiba e740=my most anticipated PDA & biggest disappointment.

Worked out well though, Amazon took it back & gave me the massive rebate too, so I got paid for all my bitching about it:D

Recently got a refurb 1945 IPAQ, and I'm very happy with it, a form factor to rival Palm & it actually works very well:thumbsup:

PSA, a new version of activesync is out 3.7.1

Have you been over at Aximsite? The have an amazing program there for converting DVDs to PPC. Its called fairuse. Its a great forum to go talk about Axims... I havent seen you over there yet. The Dell bluetooth GPS is amazing. I'm quite happy with it. Have you been experiencing any problems with the flash player when you run in VGA? Stuff doesnt seem to work for me.

I have an e740 and mine is also collecting dust on account of the sh!tty battery and the power linked memory..... GREAT device outside of that MAJOR flaw though
