I have some OLD PCI bridge drivers on my system cos I have swapped MBs over the years..I dont see how to remove em..

Any tips on what to kill in the registry?

About to buy another new MB and transfer my HD again..

You don't say what OS you are using.
If using NT4, just disable the uneeded driver, and then see if the OS boots properly.
If using 2000/XP, disabling the driver usually must be done through the Command Console (a feature at boot from the CD or if you installd cmdcons from the cd.)

You should always reinstall the OS when using a new motherboard with 2000/XP for correct driver support. NT 4 is really quite robust and can often handle new hardware changes without drivers, but don't expect the device to function properly if drivers are needed by the OS. (NT 4 can handle these things because it doesn't use PCI PnP, only ISA PnP, nor does it support APM or ACPI, nor is it a PnP OS. So if you install a driver or device, the driver or device will continue to persistently 'exist' through hardware changes even if the hardware isn't there. In 2000/XP sometimes drivers cannot be removed, only disabled.)

I just read about a tip here at the forums, haven't tried it yet myself...

start--> run---> regedit

HKey_Local_Machine

delete the ENUM folder

move hd to new mobo, boot

install new drivers.

Hope this works, like I said, haven't had a chance to try it myself, but unless someone reports a problem with it, I'm going to use it next time I have to install a new mobo. :)

*edit* here's the link

Yep what Rusty said. I have used this method several times with no problems.
