You don't say what OS you are using.
If using NT4, just disable the uneeded driver, and then see if the OS boots properly.
If using 2000/XP, disabling the driver usually must be done through the Command Console (a feature at boot from the CD or if you installd cmdcons from the cd.)
You should always reinstall the OS when using a new motherboard with 2000/XP for correct driver support. NT 4 is really quite robust and can often handle new hardware changes without drivers, but don't expect the device to function properly if drivers are needed by the OS. (NT 4 can handle these things because it doesn't use PCI PnP, only ISA PnP, nor does it support APM or ACPI, nor is it a PnP OS. So if you install a driver or device, the driver or device will continue to persistently 'exist' through hardware changes even if the hardware isn't there. In 2000/XP sometimes drivers cannot be removed, only disabled.)
