Another win for AMD and at all resolutions. AMD doesn't have a driver out for the game so it's possible they could extend the perf lead. The game is very well optimized for both sides as to be expected. Well in DX11 that is. DICE seriously what are you doing with DX12? BF1 and now SWBF2? They should be crushing with nextgen APIs. I guess we wait until Frostbite 4?

NVIDIA didn't release a driver either.
And what is this? Are we going to have a celebration every time Vega 64 passes GTX 1080? What about the scores of new games where GTX 1080 is ahead of Vega 64?

Nvidia's 385.69 driver is officially "Game ready" for Battlefront 2 Open Beta

And yeah, the DX12 results are crap. It's a shame since especially Dice has talked big about the need for lower level APIs since Mantle, which also was great in BF4.

Why do I keep hearing that mantle in BF4 was great?
It kinda sorta did a little bit for the AVG especially for smaller/slower CPUs but lowered the minimums, sometimes immensely, kinda exactly like what's happening with Dx12.

It took 3 or 4 patches for Mantle to eclipse the DX11 experience. After that it was no question that Mantle was the smoother experience.

Most sites also focused on GPU limited scenarios, testing at high resolutions with highly overclocked Haswell i7 CPUs.

Already in February 2014, PCgameshardware.de's Mantle tests showed significant differences. Especially for the slower CPUs, the Phenom II X4 almost doubled in performance.

Do they state anywhere if those are max avg or min FPS?
Because the link I linked already shows huge gains in maximums, especially in lower res like 1080.

Well you find us a better one,I don't care which site it is,I was around back then I saw for myself,I already know the answer.
"I already know the answer" e.g. I cherry pick sources to fit my preconceived stance

Yeah I "cherry picked" the very first result google gave me for "bf4 mantle benchmarks" that had both dx11 and dx12 results in the same graph, evil me!

Those were averages

This is a GPU only test but has both averages and minimums, from July 2014. Mantle had higher VRAM requirements so the 2GB models are worse than in DX11.

I don't know what and how we should compare here, the only dx11 vs dx12 tests that pcgameshardware.de did is with a ryzen running a titanX and a i7 running a vega it's kinda messed up,pick one CPU and stick with it.

I agree, but the admin on PCgameshardware.de has mentioned that sometimes they have different people with different hardware doing the tests. It's not good if you want accurate comparisons, but it's positive they can include more GPUs so interested users get at least an indication.
I don't care much about the different platforms when both show such bad performance in DX12.

Impressive results for almost all cards tested. I think the real surprise is the 4GiB Fury X beating the 980 Ti and catching up to the Vega 56 at 4K resolutions. The Fury cards continue to impress me.

That seems to be the trend with AMD cards, they do age well and hold/increase in performance.

Another win for AMD and at all resolutions.

CarstenS:
Note that Geforce and Radeon were tested on different platforms (my colleague did this partially at home on his rig there) - so only valid for comparing DX versions, not Radeon and Geforce and even their respective scaling.

For what was actually tested, DX12 is slower than DX11.

Not sure how this could be considered a win for AMD, as it's still in beta mode and there's one and a half months left until it launches To be honest, a game's final performance usually isn't known until months after it's released, due to patch releases and driver updates. There's been many times when a game was faster in beta on one IHV, then in the final revision was faster on the other.

What you really wanted to say:
Gamegpu results are in. 780Ti (Kepler) crashes and makes it impossible to test performance. 980Ti and 1070 lose just enough performance in DX12 to let Fury X overtake them in 1440p. But then Fury X dies in 4K (it's 30fps mode on 980Ti so probably nobody will play it on 980Ti also), following GTX1060 3GB which died in 1440p.

In many DX12 cpu tests Vega64 beats 1080Ti. Take i7-5960x OC and 1080Ti goes from big win to losing when cpu is underclocked. Sometimes 1080Ti pushes only RX480-like performance (with i7-2600k in 1080p). Complete opposite to DX11 cpu tests.

Yeah, which is what happens when you have a broken DX12 path that delivers worse fps and pacing than DX11 on all cards. There is no need to even consider DX12 for any card in that game.
