What do you think this means?
It means that if don't run ultra settings the game should run similar on amd hardware.

Friggin hardware sites almost always test only ultra. Completely meaningless test for my 670. When not running ultra it's fine of course, after all games run on the xbone too.

Hope the performance issues get sorted for you AMD folks. The game is really darn good. About 8 hours in, might be the most fun I've had in a single player FPS since HL2.

That's OGL version, so not that interesting tbh, even with odd results.

What will really be interesting is Vulkan version once they patch it in, considering that Vulkan does not have OS restrictions as DX12 do, so every DOOM owner will be able to switch to Vulkan.

because nvidia on their video stated "vulkan support will come shortly after" and they dont want to use something that isnt ready for nvidia do they now..

(not to mention they are using opengl 4.3 for amd and 4.5 for nvidia)

Haha Carmack shouldn't have opened his mouth. Is that Roy Taylor in that feed? Woof. "We beat NV in the game we sponsored! SUCK IT CARMACK!"
the funny part is that if he had stayed with the original comment most people would have assumed its drivers..
and then the nuke comes

he ecosystem is more than just the drivers.
D:😀

Moment he said ecosystem, I knew he meant more than the drivers. But that AMD driver meme always comes back to haunt them.

What silliness. They've already shown a build of the game running on both a Maxwell and a Pascal. The developers need to make sure that the Vulkan version isn't a buggy mess. Doom is id Software's last chance to remain relevant, so I don't think they can afford the negative press associated with a borked build of the game.

LOL, railven, it's so true. Roy Taylor ought to do AMD a favor and keep quiet, he is really making their company look bad.

So just to be clear is this a GW game?

Its not a Gameworks game. It is just optimized for nVidia, too. We saw this with Anno2205: A PC developer who cares about the PC plattform.

That's the simple reason why those games run und look fantastic while others games (Hitman, Ashes etc.) are just a joke in contrast.

John Carmack isn't saying what you think he's saying. And he hasn't worked for id in years.
oh i know
problem is he owns partially the doom ip did you know that?(we know since doom 3 actually)
also he is actually saying what everyone knows already unless you think that bad perfomance is because of the drivers (also there is the odd question as to why they use 4.3 open gl for amd and not the 4.5 while on nvidia they use the 4.5 path)
