No,i do not believe this. Leaked UK Asus prices for 5700XT is absurdly expensive. Custome models will command anywhere from 20 to 50 premium whether you like it or not. There maybe a few 400 models which will be unavailable most of the time as is tradition.

The key words being "start at" as in most will cost more, sometimes considerably more. A bit like how some Nvidia AIB cards are reference priced but most are not.

yea most cards now days non reference the price it higher, it sucks cause back in the day when they said it was 399 it was 399

Well that is Asus prices and they almost always have overpriced high end strix models.

Edit: Dear God if those prices are true, Asus has lost their minds. 529 British pounds for 3 fan Strix model. 458 for a 3 fan Tuf model.

Most aftermarket cards cost more but they'll probably have some slightly better cards that cost around the reference models and their higher end cards costing more.

Seeing how performance is identical across all 5700XT cards the only differentiating factor between them is temperature and noise. So far it looks like Sapphire Pulse and Powercolor Red Devil are the best ones, with Asus Strix and MSI Evoke basically not worth buying.

Red Devil - 69C at 1300-1400RPM
Sapphire Pulse - 71C at 1500RPM, 74C at 1000RPM in quiet BIOS mode slightly downclocked
Asus Strix - 82C at 1700RPM (in OC mode of 2GHz)
MSI Evoke - 69C at 2000RPM

I've had a bunch of RX480's during ETH mining phase and it's interesting to see progression how things changed/stayed the same. In RX480 days Asus Strix had one of the worst thermal solution of them all only one step above PowerColor Red Dragon despite commanding premium price. PowerColor Red Devil was good, but the fans had very annoying bearing noise which really lessened the card quality. MSI GamingX RX480 was the easily the best of the bunch with best quality fans and best thermals.

When it comes to 5700XT Asus Strix is still one of the worst, MSI has fallen from the best to one of the worst, and the clear winners are Sapphire Pulse and PowerColor Red Devil. On paper Red Devil looks the best, but their previous cards had noisy fan bearings, and it's something reviewers never pay attention to so you won't know until you get it.

The review for the Sapphire card have been very positive, and its really nice that its only $10 over the reference card.

Looks like the simple two fan models are the best buys. The card needs its memory OCed for best performance and that's a pain.

Just get a $410 card, keep the clocks at stock, and enjoy cool and quiet performance.

It doesn’t look like these models need it like Polaris and Vega, but has anyone done and testing with undervolting? It seems like for a variety of reasons an OC just isn’t worth the time.

From the four cards that have been tested so far, the Red Devil seems to be the best one.
But I would also like to see all the cards tested at the same core/memory clocks and voltages.

Voltage is a gamble and varies chip by chip, memory clocks are exactly the same, GPU boost clocks are nearly the same. Sure, there are some minor differences in the reviews, but they're insignificant compared to the differences in cooling solutions - Red Devil is 1400PM max while MSI Evoke is 2000RPM. Even if you equalize all the voltage/clock differences, Red Devil is still going to come out on top.

Steve has my number. I am definitely a Red Devil fan. Going to get the limited edition if it does not sellout before I can snag one. PowerColor for AMD, and EVGA for Nvidia are my preferred vendors. Never had a bad experience with either, and always feel like I got a good value from both. That said, not going to hold Sapphire responsible for the issues I had with the reference model, that is AMD's BBQ, and it was burnt.

Haven't been able to find any reviews yet for the Asrock, but looks like it's a mildly OC'd model. Probably going to pick up a Sapphire or Powercolor, whichever becomes available first.

I'm loving some of the cleaner looking designs that are being put out like the MSI Evoke and the PowerColor Red Dragon. Even the oddly named XFX Thicc looks like a fairly clean two fan design without a lot of the RGB "Tek" flair all over it.

While it might not be ideal for enthusiasts, it does look like AIB models really "only" offer better cooling and quieter running over the reference blower models, additonal OC headroom is non-existent until additional memory OC headroom is opened up, which really simplifies the selection process a lot.

Buy what fits in your case, buy what you think looks good, buy from brand you trust, no matter what you're not really leaving a bunch of performance on the table, which IMO is kinda a good thing.

Well, MSI Evoke is a 2000RPM screamer, it may provide better cooling than AMD blowers, but it's just as loud. Hard pass when much better options such as Sapphire Pulse are available. I haven't seen Red Dragon reviews, but I'd be very very cautious as Red Dragon is Powercolor budget line, my RX480 Red Dragon had the worst quality fans of any RX480 I've tried and I'm pretty sure I had to keep fans spinning at 1700RPM+ to keep temperatures reasonable. I'd be curious to see XFX reviews to see how loud it is.

For the sake of everyone reading this thread, you need to be careful when you say Red Devil and Red Dragon. These are two different cards with Red Devil being much better than Red Dragon. Please take care not to use the names interchangeably so as not to mislead other readers.
