Well, MSI Evoke is a 2000RPM screamer, it may provide better cooling than AMD blowers, but it's just as loud. Hard pass when much better options such as Sapphire Pulse are available. I haven't seen Red Dragon reviews, but I'd be very very cautious as Red Dragon is Powercolor budget line, my RX480 Red Dragon had the worst quality fans of any RX480 I've tried and I'm pretty sure I had to keep fans spinning at 1700RPM+ to keep temperatures reasonable. I'd be curious to see XFX reviews to see how loud it is.

- That's fair, but if you game with headphones or don't really care about noise, it's a relatively compact (triple slot cooler notwithstanding) option with a clean look.

The tripple slot thing, the superb performance of some of these coolers, and the delay in the AIB launch makes me wonder if these coolers are designed to be compatible with not only the 5700xt, but the next variant up as well (many of these coolers look like they were built to cool a 300w+ card).

These cards are huge, the red devil with 29.5cm might barley fit my case. At least they have smartend up compared to the past days and put the power connectors on the side. Last time I looked all these huge cards also had power connectors at the back.

There is my next card. I was hoping the red devil would have the same overbuilt quality my Vega 56 version has, and it does. Bit of bummer there is no extra value to squeeze out of it via overclocking. But given the price to performance already provided, far from a deal breaker.
Why would you upgrade from V56 to 5700XT?

Well one reason could be 35-40% higher performance, also new architecture (better future proofing)
I see 22% more performance.
And his overbuilt vega 56 will overclock much better.
More than 25% more money also. Mabe not such a good upgrade especially if you overclock.

The red devil looks very impressive, best 5700XT I have seen so far I think, and possibly the best overall AMD card yet. Looking forward to see if there is a higher end Navi soon from Powercolor or Sapphire that I could upgrade to from 1080Ti.

I'm in a similar boat. Sitting on a 1070 and wanting an upgrade. Looking at 5700xt's and 2070s's. Both are ok, about the same perf/$ curve, and completely meh. Above that is even more meh for the price. Really wanting to get off the wife's 390x. She'll get the 1070. That will be a solid 1080p/144hz card and I'll upgrade for 1440p/144hz. I'm just dying for something new and shiny. It's been 3 long years. Starting to feel like there's no reason to upgrade outside of after new console releases which is what I plan on doing for the platform itself. Right now it's either the pulse or a 2070s.

TPU is the -redacted- site you can look for benchmarks on. Also at 1440p a 5700XT is more like 30% faster than Vega and ties with Radeon 7 in a lot of games.

I'm in the same boat. Snagged my 1070 for $375 on sale in August of 2016. Three years later there is no appreciable upgrade without spending beaucoup money. Would've bought a 1080Ti to start with had I known the future.

Oh the 1080ti, at least we got the other decent card to buy from that generation before prices went insane. Bought mine in Aug of '16 as well during that Jet dot com sale. Think it was a little under $350. Myself and two friends bought them. Gigabyte windforce ones. Thought about a 2080s this morning. If I could find one for sub $700 out the door I'd consider it, still have a bad taste from my 780ti though.

As stated not an upgrade, but you ain't wrong about the performance to be had from the red devil 56. It is more appropriate to use the charts from the TPU Red Devil 5700 XT review, which use the Vega 64 numbers, for my 56, since that is the performance I get from it. And 1440p is the res I play at.

22% is wrong though. The V56 is 22% slower than 5700XT, but the 5700XT is 28.2% faster than V56.
