PC Performance

Hey everyone, I built a new computer (ram, cpu, mobo, video card) about 3 months ago. It was a mandatory upgrade at the time, and I only went with bottom of the line stuff. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E2140, 2gb ram, EVGA 650i mobo, and Nvidia GeForce 8500GT.

I don't play many games besides world of warcraft on my comp, but occasionally I like trying out new games, so it's nice to see my computer run things at medium settings. What I've noticed, is that my comp doesn't even seem like it can run warcraft at full settings, let alone struggle with newer games at low-medium settings.

I may just be imagining things, but it seems like I could get more performance out of my PC. I'm not looking to overclock my computer, I've already tried that and honestly my cpu just doesn't like that idea. What I really want to find out is if my computer is really giving the performance it should be giving, and if not, what is the problem? Thanks guys.

Your E2140 should have no problems at all running on a 1066MHz FSB @ 2.13GHz.

* Have you updated ALL your drivers?
* Do your components have good cooling?
* Post the specs on your memory

OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB)
Clocked at 5-5-5-15 at stock voltage
I've updated drivers for my mobo and my video card.
I have a better than stock cooler on my cpu.

I can figure out about overclocking later. For now, I just want to know about the performance of my current setup

Your 8500gt STINKS !!! That's why you can't run WoW at full settings, it's a crappy looking game but with a lot of players on screen and AA enabled you do need some form of graphics power.

Lol, I've heard that before, but just the kind of answer I wanted to hear. Those new ATI 3850's are starting to look mighty tempting
