I do not have itune on my computer yet but all i want is to recharge it ...
It does come up in my comp and even let me browse it ... 🙂

I am having this EXACT same problem...

SUMMARY:
- USB beeps when I plug it in
- iPod listed in Device Manager
- iTunes wont recognize it
- My Computer won't list it
- Disk management see's it
- Won't format the iPod
- Can assign drive letter but My Computer still won't recognize it
- iPod updater won't work being that computer doesnt see iPod
- "Do Not Disconnect" displays when plugged in
- Is fully charged
- Have done plenty of master resets
- Have tried Disk Mode
- Have tried plugging into AC adapter and resetting
- Have tried reinstalling iTunes
- Have removed iTunes and reverted back to the original iPod disk
- Have uninstalled and reinstalled the iPod drive from Device Manager
- Have cleaned out all cord connections
- Am using a USB 2.0 port
- Have tried various USB ports
- Have reinstalled USB drivers

I noticed someone mentioning using a VIA chipset. Well thats what I have. Ive got the most recent hyperion and 4-in-1 drivers installed for it.

Anyhow the iPod still will not list in My Computer and will not get a drive letter assigned to it. This is my 8 millionth forum I've visited about this problem. I am running a windows XP machine. My iPod has worked plenty of times in the past but just recently it stopped. Yes I have SP2 installed.

I have grown to hate VIA chipsets....even the hyperion drivers piss me off sicne they only work half of the time🙁...

But see, my iPod worked with the VIA drivers. So I really don't think its them. Maybe its a sign my iPod is going bad? I have not found one solution for this problem anywhere on the web and it seems like so many people have this problem.
