Why on earth does anyone think Manning would go to Seattle? The Seahawks suck balls and Pete Carroll is an asshat. And more importantly, I just can't see Peyton in that gay uniform.

Well, I'm not an NFL insider so I don't know what Manning's condition really is, but I think they should have given him another year. Seems like they owed him at least a chance to play after all he's done for that franchise. But then all the money/contracts come into play, another thing I'm not real familiar with.

I wish him well, I would love to see him flourish with a different team and shove it in the Colts' face.

I just read some list on Yahoo of the top teams he should go to, it was a stupid list. Let me ridicule their "top" choices. 1. Houston already has a QB, 2. 49ers already have a QB, 3. Broncos have a QB (sort of :D), 4. Redskins in a bad choice for anybody, 5. Miami, I don't see it. 6 Seahawks, Now we're talking, this makes a lot of sense to me except that they are light (maybe very light) on WRs.

I think the places that make the most sense for Manning would be 1. Seattle, 2. Arizona, 3. NY Jets since I don't think the Jets will ever make the Superbowl with Sanchez.

But I defintely see him going to Seattle or Arizona

It wasn't feasible. Manning was too big a hit against their cap. They've already went full in on rebuilding, and they just were not going to be able to offer Manning a team that would get him anywhere.

They already bent over backward for him. They paid him $26 million last year to stand on the sidelines and see how bad the team was without him. They thought he was done, in some part because he wasn't giving them great updates on his progress. Neither side should feel bad about moving on, as they're just in two separate places. Manning is in full win it all mode and the Colts are rebuilding.

I like how ATOT has been completely consumed by Manning threads. Keep it in the original thread people! Which is this one! I think!

Honestly, I feel the same about Arizona. All they can offer is Fitzgerald, a dome, and an NFC West (that now has a good team in SF to compete with). I would really doubt the owner would be willing to spend to get the Cardinals into Super Bowl caliber shape.

Oh, and the Cardinals will have to land him quickly as they'll have to dump Kolb to get him there, and Kolb is due a $7 million bonus in 10 days. I don't think Manning is going to decide until after the draft.

The Seahawks have even less to offer from the outset, but I'd say they actually have the better team right now, and the owner would be very likely to get him more help.

The Redskins make the least sense. They have a pretty bad team, I don't think Shannahan and Manning would be a good fit, and he'd have to play against Eli twice a year.

The Jets are dysfunctional and would have to dump quite a bit (almost certainly Sanchez) just to make it happen.

Miami is ok, but they're gonna have to go through the Pats, and their defense I doubt will improve as they're gonna lose their stud nose tackle. The only person in Miami that seems to be big on Peyton is the owner, and while that's the most important piece for making it happen, it could create problems since they just got a new coach.

I think KC makes the most sense.

Chiefs emerging as perfect fit for Peyton
The two front-runners are Miami and Arizona. The Jets will get some run, as well. But, like my colleague Elliot Harrison recently wrote, I have a feeling that Kansas City is the team that can give him everything he desires. He's a Midwest guy. He doesn't want to be overcome by media. He wants to play against teams he knows, and he wants a path to winning.

No one is poised to run away with the AFC West. San Diego has won by default for the most part lately. Add Manning to a K.C. team with Dwayne Bowe, Steve Breaston, Dexter McCluster, a healthy Tony Moeaki and a healthy Jamaal Charles? That would look a lot like the makeup of the Colts' offense in their heyday. K.C.'s defense is better than people think. Romeo Crennel has already said the Chiefs are interested.

I think Manning wants his life to most closely resemble what it was in Indianapolis. I'm sure Joe Montana is on the phone with him right now telling him what it was like to play in K.C. after getting pushed out of San Francisco. Sound familiar?

I hope Peyton talks to Joe, as I think that would make them the favorite very quickly.

Uh the Niners don't have a QB, Smith signed a 1 year contract last season, they haven't agreed to a new deal (to my knowledge).

Second, he isn't looking to get paid, he's looking to win rings and will select a team (that also wants him) that he feels is the best to do this over the next 3-4 years.

Anytime before this previous season I would have said Alex Smith is the luckiest guy in the world. And he was incredibly lucky to be given the amount of time he was to develop. Took him a long long time with a new offensive coordinator and different coaches every year. Most QBs are lucky to get two seasons to pan out. Matt Leinart only started about a season worth of games in his career before being declared a bust across the board (I don't think he got a fair shot though, if you ask me).

Anyways, SF went 13-3 with Alex Smith at QB this previous season and I must say he was very impressive, and I heavily ridiculed SF every year they decided to go with Alex Smith again. If you're SF you don't take you 13-3 team and gamble on a QB with big health issues. Makes no sense and they won't do it. Kind of the same story with Houston. I don't know why people think they'll just give up Schuab for Manning in a heartbeat. That would be a bad move.

Come here to Zona! Then I can actually be interested in the Cards again. The Dolphins and Seahawks uniforms are ugly, anyways :D

I wouldn't say Alex Smith was "very impressive". I would call their defense, very impressive. Niners won games with one of the best defenses in the league and by NOT giving up turn overs. That's about it.

His performance against the Aints (head hunters) in the last 3 minutes WAS impressive. But if you judge the whole body of work, it was simply acceptable.

You take a risk on the only 4 time MVP in the league that changed the entire way offensive plays in the NFL are called. Trust me, there are WAY, WAY risker players to bet on. PM isn't one of them.
