When I installed my new P3 750, I noticed it had a pink pad on the core (where the HS would be applied). I put a little paste on it and stuck the Hs/Fans on. Now, I dont run overclocked (yet), so should I remove the pad anyway to help keep it cool. I have a BH6 MB and dont have a way of checking cpu temp (although my sys temp is always 34-35c when i lock up).
ALSO, Whats the best way to remove it without hurting your cpu?
The only reason I ask is because I am getting lockups under heavy loads after about 1.5-2 hour tests and have exhausted every thing I know to solve the problem (and I didnt have this problem until I installed the P3, my celery would run for days). But, with the P3, I installed new Ram and an additional 60 GIG HD.
I have tried to no avail:
* Swapping memory modules (in/out/around) with old memory
* Heavily underclock my Vid Card
* Heavily underclock my CPU
* Removed the new additional HD (to rule out PS)
* Removed a spare CD-Rom Drive (to rule out PS)
* New install of Win on-top-of itself.
Thanks
