Hmmm.... I loved KOTOR 1. Like KOTOR 2 Got TIRED in Dragon Age and LOVED Mass Effect 1. Liked the Witcher.. Never finished it.

I bought Jade Empire. You are making me think I missed something.
(And you have made me want to replay Witcher)
I didnt see ANY "likeness" to Kotor 1/2 and ME1.

If I rememebr correctly was there an INSANE LONG tutorial?
I havent touched a PC game since Dragon Age and I miss PC gaming (i got an Xbox and enjoying that totally).

Yeah, the tutorial was kinda long. I played it maybe 6 months ago. I picked it up during a Steam sale awhile back. I also played it on the Xbox 1 when it came out, 2005 iirc. It seemed much better on Xbox than PC. Seemed quite a bit shorter, but it may have been that I was familiar with the story and didnt do many side quests.

KOTOR was great at the time but it hasn't aged well. The inventory system is very clunky and it doesn't seem to support widescreen monitors properly. Also the first 2 - 3 hours of the game are pretty boring until you get into the real story.

true. those who really bitch about the inventory in ME1 should revisit KotOR for a nice shock. absolutely dreadful. at least with ME, everything is guns. in KotOR, you have weapons, armor, upgrades, stims, grenades, datapads, various other items, all in one big jumbled mess with no way to organize it. truly awful.

also, the character pathing really gets to me. your team likes to follow up right behind you and trap you in corners, as they are unmovable walls. walking around a single person is freaking tedious, too.

Yeah, the KOTOR 1 inventory system is terrible, right down to a "show only new items" filter setting that never seemed to work right for me, and quest note datapads you could never get rid of.

At least in KOTOR 2 once your repair is high enough you can convert most loot into components for your blasters and lightsabers.

I think KotOR's inventory, while not perfect, was at least better than Mass Effect's. More variation in items, and it didn't blare YOU ARE APPROACHING THE 150 ITEM LIMIT every 15 minutes.

also Beyond Good and Evil, but that's even older (although still fantastic, in my opinion).
It's also a console port that really needs a gamepad (also, if you get it, the search term you need to use for widescreen monitors is "NoBands").

Or just buy the HD version for 360. I hate to say it in the PC gaming forum, but that game is truly better on console than PC.

Except for the having to buy a Xbox 360 part :). For $6, I can't complain much, but it is among the poorer attempts to bring a game from consoles I've seen.

So KOTOR was originally a console game ?

Dude, yes. :)

I loved all the PC gaming snobs years later who scoffed at BioWare games, and KotOR on consoles, even though it came out on the XBox a solid year or more before the PC version.

I bought it on release day for the Xbox back in '03.

Same with KotOR 2. I was not going to wait a year or more for a PC port for a game that good.

You're smoking some good memory ruining shit. Kotor 2 was released on xbox a mere 6 weeks before PC. Kotor was about 3 months apart.

Oh well, regardless, it was months apart, and I was glad to play it right away
