I am still heartbroken about Fedorov.
Maybe after seeing nobody else will pay him 10mil, he'll reconsider Detroit. We HAVE to sign some sort of offensive player...I would prefer Fedorov but if they don't get a Ray Whitney, Joe Nieuwendyk, Todd Marchant, SOMEONE... we are in deep sh!t.
Supposedly Colorado is trying to sign Felix Potvin too.

Kariya's contract is probably incentive laden and/or he's getting a huge signing bonus.

Or he'll take the pay cut for one year, probably win a championship, and go on to a different team making the same money he did last year.
If you think Kariya deserves mega-millions for inconsistant, subpar performance, it is you who is the idiot.

Umm...you check his stats?
Well over a point per game for his career. 81 points this year in 82 games.
6 time 30 goal scorer, 3 times over 40 goals, 1 50 goal season, twice over 100 points, all on a usually mediocre team.
Yeah, he's useless.![]()

Finished tied for 8th last year in Assists and 13th in Points. that is pretty damn good if you ask me.

If they pick up a decent goalie, they only way they would lose is if they come apart and just flat out get beat like they did in this years playoffs. With a SECOND line that lincludes Selanne and Kariya? Come on. I know you are Detroit fan, and i hate the avs as much as anyone...but it is ignorance to make a statement such as that.

Yeah, I know. But I have to hate on the Avalanche.
I think that they would definitely be considered one of the favorites if they can land a big-time goalie, but I don't think Potvin is going to be that guy.

I think with the defense they already have in place (assuming they stay healthy) a mediocre goalie is all they need.

Does anyone else think that Roy could possibly see this happen and decide not to retire, and win 1 last cup and go out on top?
