I may change directions with what I'm going to play. They mentioned they were going to make the challenges harder but after reading them they really pushed them up there. This is a super tanky ED build that a streamer ran for the gauntlet. Damage isn't crazy high or anything but it can tank almost any hit.

Since they haven't don't any balance changes you should look into Explosive Arrow totems as they are still super strong.

Explosive Arrow would definitely be a new totem build for me... will have to look around for a guide.

Ok I played for a good 2-3 hours yesterday, with my kid in my lap so not the fastest reactions. Died a couple times before I realized I need to start paying attention to rare mobs. I'm doing OK now myself just because I know what I"m doing (for the most part), but I'm wondering how people who are new to this game are feeling.

Think they would just have the usual new player issues. Since they don't have exceptions from previous leagues, everything is new to them.

Started in this weekend playing Skeleton Mages. Made it up to lvl 58 and ACT 7. It's amazing how additive the game is for me - I swore I wasn't going to play much and I certainly had WAY better things to do with my time as the weather here was gorgeous and the yard needed some attention. But there I was - "I'm just going to get to the next waypoint... I mean the NEXT one.."

That build is just a cheat code. Once you're able to buy most the gems you need, it's just a steam roller. Adding in the Chiftain specter just ups the damage so damned much. I haven't even picked up Dead Reckoning yet as it's still at 120C+ and I'm a LONG way away from that. Most I have is a 4 link too and I've barely paid attention to what gear I have on outside of links/colors.

Playing the same thing. You have blow by me; still in Act 2. I was looking to buy Vaal Summon Skeleton and saw it for cheap last night but figured I'll buy it today when I played. When I checked today, it was 1C. I'll check again tonight.

yeah Vaal Skele is like 1C for 1/1. More than good enough for early on.
Are you in the "guild" or whatever? I can drop gems or whatever you need in the stash for you.

What I have now works fine for where I am. It should be fine until I get much later in the game. Part of the fun is finding useful drops.

I had forgotten new league had started until I checked reddit Friday evening. Hadn't even planned a build but I wanted to play this league since I skipped archnemesis. Also actually had time where I could sit uninterrupted on the PC for a couple sessions and finished the acts Sunday morning.

Levelling with Wintertide brand was such a breeze. I switched to RF after cruel lab and steamrolled through the acts.

As far as difficulty goes, I would say that rares are overtuned, although I see there were a couple patches to nerf. I had enough damage that I was insta-phasing most bosses yet I died a dozen times to some random juiced rares, esp. becomes bad once buffed with sentinels. However I don't play safe at all during acts because there really isn't any XP loss. Some of my gear was from the first couple acts when I finished act 10.

Haven't done much mapping yet, only the tier 1 maps once each. Had a ritual spawn in the 2nd map I did and it was basically impossible for a character that's new to mapping, the rares were so dangerous, couldn't complete any of the rituals besides the first round. Boss meanwhile took <10 seconds for me to melt. Finally gave up and regeared my character to fix my resists and gem links. Also need to read up on the new atlas passives and figure out what paths I should be taking.

What did you think of the new league mechanics? I keep forgetting to activate it. The rewards didn't seen all that great in the Acts so far, I'm sure it'll improve for juiced maps.

Homer for the Summon Skeletons, is spell echo worthwhile? Does it do more than summon an extra pair?

It was pretty rewarding in acts. I havent mapped besides the tier 1 maps once so I can't really judge it yet.
It also led to a bunch of my deaths.

Vaal Skel, (Awakened) Minion Damage, Spell Echo, Controlled destruction, pierce, and greater Volley (swap with slower projectiles for bosses) is the best setup.

Got to maps yesterday (day off). Actually had a flesh crafter drop - now to get it to 5L which is proving a pain in the butt.
I'm amazed at how fast the cost of the Dead Reckoning jewel dropped. Went from 1E to 20C in like 36 hrs

I fully don't understand the league mechanic
And the new map Atlas is HUGE

Does the spell echo give your minions two shots once you get the mages?

Guess you can't use the crafting bench yet. How many fusing orbs is it for 5L?

Sentinel, as I understand it, juices a limited amount of monsters, giving you better loot from them. You can use the controller in your inventory screen to upgrade them. You need to power the slots in the controller to use the Sentinels. You can use the power cores to combine used Sentinels. You can use them once per map.

Stalker Sentinels (red) do a limited number of enemies over a certain amount of time.
Pandemonium Sentinels (blue) does one big blast.
Apex Sentinels (yellow) only works on rare or unique.

Yes - two shots.
and yeah - I don't have the 5L crafting recipe yet (nor the 150 fusing to do it)

Yeah I guess that's more or less what I pieced together. I have to figure out when's the best time to use each one and what the best "power up" options or for each in the controller.

Do you have a PoB you're following for your Skeleton Mage build? If not I can share mine from last league with you. Minus getting T1 rolls on my gear, it was pretty much "top of the line" (thanks to @rstrohkirch )

I was just using your base one that you had posted when your started last league. Following the link it was updated for 3.18. An updated one would be appreciated.

Setup the Red Stalker sentinel right as soon as you start the map. There is a node on the sentinel tree half way down that stop them from empowering normal enemies. Which allows them to last quite awhile. You also want to pick the node at the very bottom that offers better rewards. The yellow Apex just use on the boss. The Blue pandemonium use when you have a massive pack on the screen.

This is pretty much what I've been doing to be honest. Maybe not as religiously as I should be, but good to know I was on the right track

That is my PoB from last league and what I'm following again
