If I jump in this league, i guess it's going to have to be some sort of necromancer/summoner.
I do like those builds, and they are buffing them quite nicely it seems.
Gotta find that idiot-proof build to use though...

I think I'm going to do a Toxic Rain Trickster. I keep saying I'm going to play a bow build and never do. So, I'm not going to look at anymore builds and as long as they don't do something to TR in the patch notes then I'm set.

Considering they're doing a summoner meta this league. I bet you could pick nearly any summoner guide from 3.7 and you'd end up with a more powerful build overall. One would assume they're going to freshen up the AI on the zombies and skeletons for this release as well.

That's pretty much what I figured. My only real concern is that since they are redoing the summoner meta, it will be a popular build and therefore items will be increased in price.

If you use the build you linked as a reference then the two items in it that will increase in price are The Baron and potentially Astramentis. The other uniques are common drops.

i saw some vids on youtube claiming to show leaks of skill tree changes, don't know if their legit or not, but the supposed leaks support my hunch that DoT is gong to be big in Blight league.
If the blight monsters are going to be slow and beefy monsters, then you'd want to be able to deal screen wide DoTs and move on to the next pack while the first one melts away.
so i'm planing on trying Soul Rend+Bane CI occultist pure ES again like i did in Synthesis. that time, i was able to get it to around 100kdps DoTs with soulrend, but now i believe the new changes could spike that number up.
Also, Righteous Fire is getting some interesting things like the new Fire DoT modifier, and i love me some RF.

I was going to skip this league... the concept doesn't really seem that interesting to me, but now I'm thinking of doing a poison assassin build after seeing the new poison skills and the assassin ascendancy changes. Waiting for the patch notes and the PoB update now.

I also quit Legion quite early. I was a little pissed because I attempted the 5 way fight twice and both times my game crashed out with an error. Same shit used to happen in Breach which was a fun league but I crashed 9/10 times on a particular breach (can't remember which one).

edit: I think I remember fixing the breach crashes by turning off multi threading or something like that, but I didn't bother to troubleshoot my crashes in Legion this time, wasn't interested enough.

Even if you don't play the league mechanic, there are still loads of other stuff to do. Delve, farm bosses, craft super multimods, try new skills and builds.
I played Synthesis league without entering the nexus.

I don't see anything wrong with it. The guide layout is good and the gear isn't pricey. I do agree that the screen cancer factor is very high. He also runs 4 minions so he's summoning zombies and skeletons while clearing.

If you want to be a simple as possible try to look through the guides that just use 1 summon type and preferably Spectres since they don't die as easily. Something like this guy's build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2181275 . He just uses Spectres and the on screen effects are not nearly as bad. His gear is also not expensive and the build damage scales up high enough to do Uber Elder.

Thanks I will definitely look at that one. I'm contemplating a GPU update but think I may have already hit the limits of my CPU and anything more would just be bottlenecked. I actually just made a post in the GPU sub forum.

Been playing around in PoB past few days with various poison builds. Just going over the patch notes again and I noticed RF now destroys barrels... i'm tempted to go RF. :)

Haven't looked at the tree but I'm betting that RF received an overall damage boost with some of the changes. I heard next patch it'll open chests for you.

They're fixed for me. At launch I crashed 5-6 times straight trying to get into the zone with the pirate in Act 1. After that again every so often just randomly and I would have to create a new instance to progress. They have apparently hotfixed them, no crashes at all today.

Is there something wrong with this league? I have a new laptop with a 1660TI but the performance won't go past 15-20fps where my 1050TI would get 40-50 fps. In the settings its showing as using the integrated graphics but it looks like this is what it does for everyone. I use the Nvidia optimization and I mean it does look like it's using that card except that it performs as though this was a 10 year old laptop.

Any ideas?

Loving my necromancer build. I've never steamrolled the storyline like this. I literally just shield charge my way through every map and the minions mop things up along the way. I'm going to guess I'm missing a bunch of loot along the way, but so be it. MY current equipment sucks too - it's virtually just anything that has the sockets I need and some resists. I have to drill down on that next though as I just hit mapping before bedtime yesterday.

Is there something "bigger" I'm missing with the new league mechanic? Is it just those individual pumps along the way with no bigger encounter along the way? I've been pretty much ignoring them through the last couple of acts as it just seemed... pointless.

Yeah, I've been playing a zombie-focused necromancer as myself. It's pretty much a walking simulator. Which is good, because I'm having some issues with pain with my mouse-clicking finger. (Alas, old age.) I'm just really hoping The Baron comes down a bit in price over the next week or two. I mean, I know it won't come down to as cheap as it was last league, but I'm thinking there should be an equilibrium point once we're past the start-of-league stage. In theory.

welp - might be I have the good luck this league. Already had an exalt drop (T3 Map) and a 6-link (junky). I think that may be my first 6-link natural drop ever. At least I don't recall one anyways.

Was able to buy a Victario's Charity which really picks up the cleat speed once my mob gets the frenzy and power charges. I dont link having to use the ball lightning to get those kills to power up everyone, but I'm getting used to it. Sitting on about 90C right now, but not sure what to buy. 6L chest is still super expensive. And I'm still lost on what other gear to use (the final build specs have ridiculous sharper items that I'm pretty sure dont even exist in Blight league yet)

League mechanic is... Still not sure. I dont really stop and do many of them along the way anymore. Just slows things down too much. And seems sort of pointless for the rewards. I feel I can farm more and quicker just running through the maps.
