So far, the arc traps are an OP'ed joke they just melt anything in their way even on a 4L. (will pick up 5L tonight I think... ) Throw down some spire totems against bosses and they go down pretty quickly too. The only thing I'm not loving too much is using evade as primary defense. I have to get use to that. Lots of one-hits so far. I just hit mapping last night before bed, and I realized I need to get my resists maxed out ASAP.

I too love how they rolled in Bestiary into the core. It's pretty well done. I will almost certainly never do any Beast crafting, but I do love running around with Einhar who is pretty OP'ed himself. They still need to do away with the recipe overlays though - WAY too big (looking at you too prophecy)

Still trying to figure out the new mechanic in the game and how to make the most of it. Will read/watch up on that later today I guess.

Yesterday was fun. I bought a better Lioneye's Glare and 5-linked it. Then I swapped from physical to elemental. After that I just crushed maps.

How do you guys stay alive as evasion characters? I'm still skipping a lot of the new content since they seem to be all one-shot wonders.

Should I work some armor into my build or just go all out for evasion?

I dunno - I'm having some pretty bad experiences with all evasion. I admit my resistances still need to be capped (I'm at 55-65% on all 3 if I recall). Could use a little more life too I guess. I just keep thinking there will be a magical switch/moment when things gel and I and a little less susceptible to those 1-hit deaths. I still get caught up in playing like an RF too and running into battle instead of staying further back. The new syndicate battles are hard to stay out of the fray though - they jump all over and there's so many MTX effects all over it's just a spam fest.

I really think my #1 beef with POE in general is the amount of "flash" on the screen - it's rare that you can tell what is actually happening in any given battle.

Usually evasion would also have acrobatics, phase acrobatics and Vaal Grace. You move around a lot, stay at a distance and primarily rely on damage to end stuff quick. You pop Vaal Grace on mechanics you know are questionable. You'll also want a jade or quartz flask. A lot will also take Vaal Pact or if you're Deadeye you get +30 LGOH from rapture.

I just loaded your guy up. I'm assuming you missed this but you have 2 Trap Support gems in your 5 link. Which means you've been running a 4 link all this time. Switch out one of the trap supports for Trap and Mine Damage and you just gained 35% more damage. Spend a chaos and buy the highest level version you can find since you're behind on leveling it now. You're also running Multi Trap instead of Cluster Trap. Cluster Trap is better all around.

Your health is really low. You have a few pieces of gear with either no life or 20 or less life. Replace everything with at least 50 life and you'll gain around 400-500hp. You have 2 jewel slots but nothing in 1 and that crappy unique in another. Buy some 5%+ max life gem with either spell damage or lightning damage for 1c each. Your also running regular Grace instead of Vaal Grace. You should buy Vaal Grace as it's an amazing oh shit button.

With the changes I mentioned and about 7c investment your experience will feel much much better.

Yeah - I think I mentioned to you last night that I needed to do some serious shopping and reworking/upgrading. I think I also mentioned that I've been getting crap for currency drops. Chaos are even proving hard to come by, but getting into mapping should help with that.

Do I really have 2 trap support in the 5-link? Hmmm... obviously that's a mistake. I just bought that 5L for 2A and ran 1 map with it (and that trial last night as well) so didn't even notice. LOL

Ok I can't figure this out... need help. See this screenshot?

2P5YW.jpg

I can't use "Lacerate" or "Heavy Strike" skills now (they are darkened) even though I meet all of the requirements to do so. I've been using the attacks forever and before the last update so I think it's broken until proven otherwise lol. People in the in-game chat are less than helpful so I figure someone on here can help me out because I'm confused.

They changed it this patch so that skills that use to only check main hand weapons now check both hands. Lacerate and Heavy strike can't be used with daggers and you have a dagger in your off hand. Remove it and you should be able to use them again.

I always think there's too much "flash" with the new content, but when I get breaches or Abyss mobs I now know whats going on and can plot my choices accordingly. I can only hope Betrayal is the same and I get used to it after a while.

I have most of those, but I'll pick up a Vaal Grace tonight and give it a go. Think that might be what makes it feel better?

It's huge for the 6 seconds it's up. At level 20 it allows you to face tank most stuff in the game. If you have an extra slot then put increased duration on it.

Well I liked it for most of my run last night. I ran about 15-20 maps, mainly using it against the new content. My only death was an offscreen shot from Tora before I even got to see her. It's a strange spot for me right now. I can do up to red maps with really good clear speed and no deaths. However, I'm dying once or twice to the new content each night.

I'll agree with everyone else here that Arc Traps are indeed OP. I haven't even equipped a body armour yet and I'm already in Blood Aqueducts. I just didn't want the movement penalty. I died twice so far in the acts which is the lowest for me yet and then once in Cruel Lab. Although I did check my deaths and it said 30 so I'm guessing my wife or someone else may have tried out my char for a while :)

Ironically I'm (very slowly) farming for a Tabula and an exalt fell for me yesterday. The frustrating part about doing SSF.

So did you just slam something with it or will you wait until you get to your end game gear :)

Arc (5 link), Trap Boots, Controlled Dest, Cluster, Trap Dmg
Lightning Spire (6 link), Trap Dmg, Adv Traps, Added Lightning, Lightning Pen, Ele Focus
Bear Trap (3 link), Adv Traps, Increased Duration
Lightning Warp (3 link), Less Duration, Faster Casting
Wrath
Conductivity
Flame Golem
Decoy Totem

I don't use Bear trap yet but I'm guessing I'll need it for T15-16 bosses.

I've still four empty sockets in my glove slot. I'll add Cwdt + IC + Phasing + Inc duration later on.

I might remove Flame Golem and add the new totem support to it later on when I actually need Decoy.

What do you guys think about my setup? What can I improve, add, remove, etc. This is my first time with traps and I didn't follow any single guide but borrowed bits that I liked from many different ones.

when I hit level 50 it showed me a brief thing about some kind of ground rifts that open up in the world? what's that all about... another high risk/high reward type thing?

In the later acts and in maps you will find Abyss circles (they will show up green on your minimap and on the ground). When you walk over them they activate and you can follow the crack to a circle. Mobs will come out of the crack, rare mobs from the circle. If you kill the mobs fast enough the crack will continue until you get to the last circle which spawns a chest normally but can also open into a separate area which will have a boss fight at the end with either a totem (pretty easy) for a belt reward, or a Lich (relatively hard) for a various gear piece reward.

For the most part if the Lich reward has 2 abyssal sockets or if you get the chest it's worth quite a bit.

Only thing I can really say is I'd rather have arc in a 6 link. Lightning spire in a 6L is usually an end game build for Shaper/Uber Elder/Etc since they don't move. Any boss that moves out of the range of the spire makes it useless.

Other then that there isn't anything wrong with your setup. At this point you should have +1 trap gloves and work on getting a 6L if you haven't already. Shimmerons would be next and then working on rings/ammy/belt/jewels. Shimmerons will be around 20C ish this weekend and anyone playing traps should consider them. By this time next week they'll be around 8-10c. Pretty much all arc trapper builds will probably be using at least 1. The only time I noticed they don't is when they're using something like scepters and building around a lot of flat added lightning damage.

Reworked some points on the tree, added some res and life gear and jewels. Certainly less squishy now. I still find myself caught in some "busy" fights sometimes, but that's my own stupidity for falling asleep and face-tanking stuff. I screwed up and leveled my golem past my CWDT so now I'm having to self cast until the CWDT can level up which sucks.

I think I need to save up and get a +1 trap gloves for spire.
Added a vaal grace that dropped. I just gotta remember to pop it more often :)
I know it's stupid, but I really love vaal skeletons for boss battles. They just overwhelm and corner any boss doing decent damage and at worst provide a considerable distraction. I almost always end up using that gem in a build for quite a while until I absolutely NEED that slot.

You can also vendor that gem along with a scouring orb and get the same gem back but minus 1 level. Repeat as needed.
