Two weeks is nice, though if you've ever had to deal with one of them just starting to fall asleep while the other emits the cry that wakes the dead, I'm sorry and know how you feel. I got one week paid but my daughter eats breast milk and formula to the tune of three babies worth. 9lb 2oz titty monster! I'm hoping she got my height gene (I'm 6'9") because tall girls are much more picky with their mates so I won't have to deal with as many douchebags in her teenage years. Gonna have to pull something like this.

Think I got 4 weeks at my old firm. Paid, non-vacation. And your required hours for the year were prorated down. It was great working at a top national firm because as soon as one firm implements a benefit or increases pay, they all do.

Current firm... I think I took a day or two, and it was all vacation time. Sigh.
 
Up to 4 weeks (2week typical) if I have that much sick leave saved up and doctor's note or the like. Beyond that is usually reserved for people having major health issues.
 
When my son was born I was at a top national firm and got 2 weeks paid vacation.

When my daughter was born I was at my current firm, a small IP boutique. Took a week and then went back to work. My daughter's health issues arose shortly thereafter and I ended up taking almost 3 months off paid . . . When it happened none of the partners even blinked before telling me to go home and be with my family. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Won major loyalty points.
 
I think 2 weeks paid, then the rest goes on to short term disability up to another month, something that I paid for.
 
Federal law requires they give you 12 weeks off over a 12 month period. Doesn't say they have to pay you though.

At my job, paid maternity leave is 6 weeks and paid paternity leave is 2 weeks.

here in Denmark 2 weeks of family leave are reserved for the father. 18 weeks are reserved for the mother and 30 weeks can be divided as the parents see fit (all of it paid of course). Usually the father only takes the two weeks

The couple has the baby, not just the woman. It's a new age my friend.

In my case I used the whole 12 weeks but I used Leave and Sick days to cover it so it wasn't unpaid. I took the 12 weeks over the course of 5 months to cover the days my wife was working after her 3 months of maternity leave.
 
I took 4 weeks (banked sick leave). Others in my office took 2-3 but wish they took 4. I doubt most places would have issues with a couple weeks off.
 
I used 8 weeks of sick leave for my first son when he was born.

I am just now finishing up 8 weeks of sick time and 4 weeks of vacation time for my son that was adopted in December.

It has nothing to do with popping out the baby. It is called caring for my sons and being part of their lives. Getting to know him and in addition, giving my wife some breathing room.
 
I took two weeks of sick leave for each of my girls. I could of taken more but my wife was ready to handle things herself and I was ready to get back to work.
