As of yesterday, I've joined the ranks of the America elite, the land owners. No more paying rent to these elites, from now on I pay property taxes instead.
The house is a nice 4 year old colonial with 4 bedrooms in NJ. Figured I would let you guys know so you can expect a few home owning questions from me in the coming weeks and months.

welcome to the club....we'll show you the secret blood oath and the secret knock that grimy renters are forbidden to know.

we meet on Thursdays.

I'm a property owner, but I'm not "elite", so I voted no.

The idea that you have to be elite to be a property owner is just communist propaganda.

you got it backwards. you have to be a property owner to be elite.

anyways, i still feel that only property owners should be allowed to vote.

Congrats.

Are you forced to belong to a crappy homeowners association?

You know I haven't heard anything on that. I guess if no one approaches me in the next few days, I'm in the clear.

All this rain is not helping with moving. Hopefully it'll stop this weekend.

Jealous is the wrong word - many of them are recently laid off or otherwise have to minimize/cut corners. We're young (28, my wife 27), so lots of our friends are also still in that transitional phase between college/grad school and adult life, so they think that we're either spoiled or sorta gloating about how good we have it... We did get a loan from my parents to help with closing but have a repayment plan already in place, but it still makes us seem like brats since we don't talk about our finances, just the end result. We don't mean to brag, we're just excited, so some of it rubs some people the wrong way. We *are* fortunate for what we have, and feel blessed and are very grateful.

So we don't talk about it unless we're asked, and the people who ask are true friends who are excited about our move.
