Parents - Would You Get This For Your 3 Year Old?

I was over at a friend's house for Thanksgiving lunch.

They have a 3 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. The rest of the fam was there as well; grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

Their son turned 3 years old just a few days ago and they got him this as one of his gifts;

The 3 year old was crashing into everything (including the shins of most adults). There were already a few dents in the dry wall. I was hit a few times. It hurt, no damage done, but it was rather annoying. And, if you didn't brace yourself, you would tip over.

More importantly my concern was over;
- the 2 year old girl
- the grandmother, who has a walking cane

We (various adults) had to scoop up the 2 year old a few time from getting run over. And, we told the grandma to stay away.

This thing is heavy;
Product Weight:82.3 pounds

The product does say 3 years and up, but, am I wrong in thinking this was a bad idea?

Aren't there plenty of alternatives with peddles that won't move down and crush an infant? Or tip over an old woman?

The 3 year old clearly doesn't know any better. And, his parents would LOL at the crashing. One of them even got knocked over.

I left, but, I am waiting for the story of how this kid's sister and/or grandma gets sent to the hospital.

No, but I would buy it for the 3 year old of a relative I didn't like very much. $400 well spent on maximum destruction. :thumbsup:

Pretty sure those things are only intended to be used outdoors.

I wouldn't spend $400 for a 3 year old. If my kid did have that, it would be an outside only toy. You are friends with morans.

What is it, you can't afford a fun toy for your kid so you come in here and whine about people who can afford it?

Grandma and you should stay at home if you can't get out of the way of a 3 years old.

You forgot the 2 year old - what's her problem?

Which bothers you? Is it the $400 price tag, the idea that three is too young for such a toy, or the annoyance it causes adults?

If you want to spend $400 or $4000 on a toy for your kid, that's entirely your business.

It pretty much looks like a toy designed for three-year-olds.

The tradition of kids annoying adults with their toys is a long and storied one. Doesn't have to be a big powered toy. Give a kid a toy bow with suction cup tipped arrows, or a nerf ball, or a kazoo and you'll soon want to kill them. Deal with it.

4yr old neighbor boy has a Gator powerwheel and he can barely stop from hitting everything. My son is about three and a half and there'd be no f'in way I'd get him one let alone let him use it *inside*. Your friends are helicopter parent morons.

Do you know if they save anything for college for the kid?

I never balked at the price tag,.. in fact, I never even mentioned the price in the OP,.. but, you sure showed me,...?

In regards to dealing with it; not my family,.. nonetheless, I would not consider a 2 year old's smashed skull and an old woman's broken hip from this 3 year old ramming into them with an 82 pound toy, as an annoyance. But, again, you sure showed me.

Sounds like the OP and others here are the helicopter morons.

Who cares the gift price and just because they spent $400 on a gift doesn't mean they are the one's responsible for the college fund.
