I'm willing to bet it was deeper than that.

I'll bet they used a keylogger to get her passward and monitored it regularly, including her PMs.

My brother logs all the computer activity of his underage kids.

Uhhh....I'd say the parents were taking the ultimate route of responsibility and teaching a whole lotta kids a well earned lesson by invoking the help of the police. Way to go parents.

If I were in their shoes and had the opportunity to do the same thing I certainly would. The punishment would have more to do with my own daughter and her friends disrespecting me and my property than kids drinking underage.

Nice. Stupid teenagers putting that stuff on Myspace and Facebook. All the parents or police have to do is look on Myspace and wow pictures of teenagers drinking. Hmmmmm.

Excellent ownage, for extra point they should go outside the school and hold up a sign that reads "All your bases belong to us."

Good for the parents, they were very responsible though I bet the daughter won't be talking to them for a while. Plus she'll prob have to sit with the uncool table during lunch at school.

And that's the difference between people who get busted and people who don't, isn't it? :p

True, I suppose with the MySpace and whatnot she got what she deserved. I feel bad for the other kids, though.

Agreed, they obviously love their daughter very much. More parents should get this involved in their kids' lives.

Dammnnnn their daughter is getting all sorts of shit for this at school. The parents should have let the other kids go as long as they weren't driving. It's kind of messed up to "capture" them in a way and make sure they get in trouble. That's just wrong.

Very nicely done.

I hope they paint their house with egg-proof paint, and maybe consider bullet-proof windows.

There may be some fallout for the girl, but I think the parents were justified in their actions. I see nothing wrong with making sure the other kids got their hands slapped too.

Something I'm curious about... Do the parents drink you think?

Something I'm curious about... Does it matter?

Underage drinking happens, but props to these parents for preventing all these fucking tards from driving home afterward. I drank in highschool, but I never drove to parties. If I was gonna be drinking, I arranged to crash there, walk, etc...

I dont feel it matters at all. I just am always surprised at the hypocrisy of mankind. "Do as I say not as I do." I don't drink, so if I find underage drinking being done by my children I have a foot to stand on because my children will have never seen me come home plastered, or saying i wont be coming home that night cause I'm too drunk to drive.

Anyone who drinks really doesn't have a right to tell others they can't drink. I dont understand the whole age laws regardless. Adults get plastered and cause accidents with the same ability as underage drinkers. I'll never understand how people can be so stupid in the first place, but I guess that's people for you.. There's the ones with common sense.. and then there's.... everyone else..

hopefully all parents do this. i have 3 kids, 11, 11 and 13. we talk about this kind of stuff all the time, and they tell me their password every time they change. it. they have no idea i already know it. props to these parents for taking care of business, despite the fact that their girl got busted too. hopefully it teaches all of them a few things about life in general.

So you've completely missed the point why the parents did what they did and are calling everyone stupid?

Called police and blocked everyone in? Holy douchebag parents.

It's slightly less of a dick move if they would be culpable for the actions of those minors because of alcohol consumed on their property. That's a pretty nutty law in itself though.

I think that's taking it a little too far into invasion of privacy. My belief is that if you smother the children too much and want to pry too much into their lives they will want to "escape" more and more

yeah, it's easy to hate these parents as a kid, but you should be willing to accept that they won this round. It could be that they understand the experimentation typical of growing up, and aren't the assholes that this article makes them out to be. They were clever enough to bust the kids--when you have that power, flaunt it.

having discussions with your kids about the rights and wrongs, as well as imposing rules on usage is far from an invasion of privacy. rules for computers at my house include "the account is not yours, its mine. your password is mine also". same goes for text messages on the oldest girls phone. i read them all, she knows it. since we have had discussions about why we do things this way, along with her friends getting busted by their parents that dont do similar things, they get to see why first hand. there is no real privacy in a family, and that goes both ways.
