regarding ring around the rosie: my belief in snopes is not unwavering, if snopes is proven wrong i won't shut my eyes and pretend it's right.

jews = indians, nazis = cowboys. sorry, but that'd be the equivalent, if you want to play that game. unless, of course, you know of stories where peaceful farmers who had been around for hundreds of years were attacked by thousands of indians so they could take the farmers' land and place them on reservations. cops & robbers is slightly different, in that we're not exactly talking about robbers being people who are starving and just stealing bread to eat. i have no problem with kids playing cops and robbers, as long as kids are taught that the robbers are the bad guys. but if you believe that an equal case can be made for cops being the bad guys and robbers being the good guys as the other way around, well...

oh, and adults painting swaztikas on school windows and hanging signs that say "work will set you free" for a game of tag is sick. not educational. it is exactly equal to kkk vs blacks. unless you wouldn't have a problem with adults in alabama organizing burning crosses and dressing up kids in white hoods and others with blackface makeup for a game of tag. it's all just educational, and harmless fun.

no one was hurt, physically maybe.

that has to be a very moronic statement.

Obviously you have no concept of the Holocaust. This behavior is unbelievably offensive, particularly in Europe.

I can't imagine how anyone could even for a moment think this even approaches acceptable.

If this was accompanied by a discussion of the horrors that the Nazis inflicted on the jews, then I don't see the offensiveness. Stupid, but not necessarily offensive. The same exercise could have been done with a POW story...

Let's ignore the fact that you are wrong, you of all people would know...

i don't think these types of things should be made into games. i wouldn't want to see a bunch of adults dressed in white chasing around little children painted black either.

I agree. It's a bad idea. The fact that people are offended doesn't make it offensive. You could actually do this and make it a worthwhile lesson, but you'd never get buy in from the parents. If you did this and then sat down the kids and then talked about how much worse it was for the real jews and why it was wrong and why it should never happen again, you would actually be teaching a very valuable lesson. However, if that wasn't the point of all this, then the organizers need to get put in federal pound me in the ass prison.

Its very poor judgement to trivialize something like this into a game of fun, which it sounds like it was meant to be. But on the other hand most of us played cowboys and indians when we were kids regardless of the attrocities against native americans...but we were naive and didn't mean anything with it. I wonder what age the people were who organized this game.
