Are people really this stupid or just not have a clue??

Parents shocked after scout camp features Nazis chasing Jews

COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Parents of more than 100 Danish scouts were outraged over a game of tag at a scout camp in which children acted as Jews wearing yellow Stars of David and tried to escape from adults pretending to be Nazis.

The group of about 160 scouts, aged 11-14, included a dozen teenagers from the Danish-speaking minority in northern Germany. The school yard was turned into a concentration camp with swastikas on the windows.

"I was shocked," Johanna Christiansen, a German woman, told the Ekstra Bladet newspaper on Thursday.

"It's wrong to expose children to this," said Christiansen, whose two daughters took part.

The local branch of the Danish Christian FDF scout organization organized the game last weekend at the Kongeaadal school, 260 kilometers (160 miles) southwest of Copenhagen.

Jes Imer of the local FDF chapter told the tabloid B.T. that they "may have crossed the line this time with a night game where Nazis chase Jews."

The school yard included a sign with the German words "Arbeit macht frei," or "Work will set you free," the infamous inscription over the entrance to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.

"I don't know whether I should apologize," Imer told B.T., adding "I didn't want the game to hurt anyone."

None of those involved could be reached for further comment.

Obviously you have no concept of the Holocaust. This behavior is unbelievably offensive, particularly in Europe.

I can't imagine how anyone could even for a moment think this even approaches acceptable.

Why? It instills in the children the inherent evil of Nazism. It makes racist nazis the monsters, and Jews the innocent victims. IF this is the way the game was played, I find it very unoffensive.

Children respond best to education that includes games and fun.

What did the organizers expect?? That?s the stupidest idea I have ever heard of. Next time play a game of catch the victim, where the boys are the Rapist and the girls are the victims.

Perhaps you think it appropriate if one side was people in the world trade center, and the other side was hijackers?

You sure? If anyone is deserving of their own country it would probably be the Native Americans.

Kids have made games out of many things like that. If they made a game of terrorist vs victim I would not be surprised at all.

Hell, kids even made games and rhymes about the great plague/black death. It's natural, entertaining, and most of all, educational.

these weren't 6 year olds. these were preteens, teenagers, and adults. it is seriously wrong. its educational value is questionable, its entertainment value is nil, and it is not healthy.

and kids never made nursery rhymes about the bubonic plague.

All they present is absence of evidence. Snopes is not god, nor the end all be all of knowledge. Their most compelling argument is that it was not written down for five centuries. BFD. First, writing was reserved to the literate elite for most of that period (1500s - 1700s), and secondly, it's a kid's nursery rhyme for fsck's sake.

For Snopes to declare it "false" instead of "questionable" without coming up with a definitive genesis of the rhyme only goes to futher hurt their reputation in my mind.

As for the game not being healthy, why? Please explain what the game would do that could harm the kids? This is the same nonsense that destroyed cops and robbers and cowboys and indians as games for kids.

Very good points. Very arrogant of them to say we don't think it's likely that it was remembered for that long, so it must be false without disproving or coming up with a better explanation. Snopes definitely seems to have an agenda of trying to disprove things rather than investigate and make an objective conclusion. I don't think these adults should take it upon themselves to start a new game that some find offensive, but it won't do any harm to the children.

And 1000 years from now.. people would be arguing that kids made up nursery rhymes about male prostitutes..

When the legit source for "little boy blew" was lost. ;)

I think there are some questionable ones on snopes too.
