I thought Cruise did an excellent job in the last MI movie.

me too. Sucks that people can't separate the looney cruise in real life from the role he played in that movie.

$40,000,000 is a lot of money but think about this - Keanu Reeves earned $10 million plus 10% of gross for The Matrix, $15 million plus 15% of gross for Matrix Reloaded, as well as $15 million plus 15% of gross for Matrix Revolutions. I had read somewhere that had worked out to about $350 million in income for him. Not bad.

Oops, I had left out that he also got 10% of gross for The Matrix. Regardless of whether you think he's a good actor, he certainly is a good businessman.

It's hard when you go around showing off his crazyness like he's been doing.

It would be wierd having a new actor, but they succesfully change actors a lot in 007, so I guess this would be similiar.

Moviegoers won't accept a new lead 3 movies into the series.

I know, just look how poorly that worked out for the James Bond franchise!

I highly, HIGHLY doubt MI has the legs of Bond as far as series go. Ethan Hunt is never going to be a household name like 007.

Why not go with a woman star ?

Women are better spies anyway.

Angelina Jolie then
or maybe put brangelina in there for

MI:Smiths

Too predictable.

Sarah Jessica Parker or Drew Barrymore is more what I had in mind.

Brad Pitt is a great actor, but for the last 10 years Tom Cruise has been the star of the Mission: Impossible movies. When someone says "Mission Impossible" I think Tom Cruise. It's going to be difficult adjusting to someone else being the star of MI IV.

except all the movies were relative let downs, if a 4th one could actually meet expectations...

Brad Pitt: see fight club and 12 monkeys. awesome in both.
He was also really good in Se7en as well. I even liked Troy and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

I think the franchise could do well without Cruise. So many people were turned off to MI:3 by his off-screen antics that it HAD to hurt the movie.

I dont think i've ever seen a movie with Pitt in it that wasn't great. I'm not saying he's the best actor or anything, just that he picks damn good roles to be in. Kind of like Sean Connery.

I'll bet you haven't seen Cool World then.

What was wrong with MI:3? I thought it was an excellent action flick. The opening scene of counting down to kill his woman was AWESOME.

Pitt is a much better actor than Cruise and has enough star power to keep the franchise alive. I can't really think of a better choice at this point but $40 million? Why is Hollywood crying about profitability again?

All those DVD cloning programs are forcing them to pay 40M instead of 100M, which he really deserves. Oh, the horror!
