Paralysis by analysis

Either I have paralysis by analysis or just been burned too often, but I want to find a fun game to play but have no idea what to get. There's a few that sound interesting but afraid I won't like them.

Like I'm interested in a FPS style game but nothing seems that interesting. I kinda want to check out ghost recon: wildlands but hear so much bad stuff about it, and afraid it's going to get old fast like with the farcry games, just doing the same crap over and over.

I bought titanfall 2 and battlefield 1 awhile back but I am horrible at both games and they end up not being any fun.

Also bought PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds but I suck at that too. Too random and luck based more than skill based.

Wildlands is repetitive from what I hear. But it's not really the Tom Clancy style anymore. More like a 3rd person combat gta game. Think more like just cause only a bit repetitive. That's the gist I got from reviews.

It's that or for honor that I'll get to pick when I get a new GPU. So I'll pick wildlands I suppose.

Have you played sniper elite series? That was a good fps..Kinda. Then there's doom which I do like quite a bit.

I tried For Honor in beta or something and didn't like it.

I played sniper Elite 2 and it was cool for a little bit but got with it. I tend to get bored with games fairly quickly these days. Really not into it that much any more I guess, but need some kind of time waster to keep from being bored.

Everyone seems to like Overwatch, have you tried it? Or are you looking for single-player?

Do you like anything besides FPS?

Tried overwatch, not a fan. Single or multi, although if it had both that would be nice. Kind of jonesing for a somewhat modern day fps, but any genre besides sports or racing, or sim. I've tried a lot of fps games so might be hard to recommend one.

Not really a fan of turn based games. Used to like rts but that has dwindled, same with rpg. I know that doesn't leave much, haha.

If you like zombies and melee combat/free-running/parkour, you should check out Dying Light. If you like medieval-based games, you should check out Mount and Blade: Warband - it has a great mix of diplomacy, trade economy, and has some really good melee combat (mounted and on foot). The amount of mods as well as their quality is pretty staggering as well. There's also the Metro series which is one of my favorite FPS series.

Or maybe it's time to steer away from AAA gaming and try some indie titles. Terraria is a great time waster and the amount of content in that game is absolutely insane. Then you have smaller titles like Chronicon, Hero Siege, Helldivers, Ghost 1.0, etc.

My library is pushing 300+ titles, so I'm sure I have others to recommend that I didn't mention.

Tower Defense? I had a lot of fun with Defense Grid 1, though I got bored with DG2. I guess it's sort of RTS though.

Fallout 4? Skyrim?

The best Tower Defense game is by far Dungeon Defenders. It's the best mix of action RPG and Tower Defense out there.

Bioshock Infinite is amazing. It's by far my favorite FPS, though it's not a traditional FPS since it's a single player game with an amazing storyline.

Spent thousands of hours in Dungeon Defenders. What an amazing game... Dungeon Defenders 2 is still a work in progress though. I've not been super impressed yet...

I tend to get bored with games fairly quickly these days.

My suggestion is to watch the weekly Steam sells and pick up some discounted games. I normally buy games at around the $5 mark and that way if I get bored with it after a few hours I feel that I've still gotten my money worth. Then every now and then I find something like Terraria that I put hundreds of hours into for $2 and it justifies all the other games I bought and uninstalled in the same day.

I second the Subnautica suggestion. I picked it up on sale for $10 on a suggestion on these boards and have become addicted, I've put in like 30 hours already, that is a lot of time for me. Another game I would recommend is RimWorld. It is an addictive base building/colony management game, kind of a sadistic version of The Sims.

Ive had alot of fun playing Dying Light lately.

And i hadn't played Terraria since it was in beta(and i put over 100 hours into it then) and wow they have added alot and continued to add content like not many other games do, ill probably get another 100-200 hours out of it now.

Another vote for Dying Light. Try to get Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition if possible. It's an intense and fairly challenging game, particularly at night. I've had a lot of fun with it, and plan to revisit it soon.

I've never successfully gotten into Terraria, but I still hope to one day. I lose patience in the beginning because I really have no clue what I'm doing or what to start doing.

I second Dying Light and Bioshock: Infinite.

If running and gunning isn't completely necessary and you aren't easily scared/stressed out - Alien: Isolation is a great game, but it's more about being stealthy and avoidance than trying to kill things.

Acen and the CDT (Community Development Team) are still adding more content to the game. If you haven't played it recently, there have been some new maps added since Crystalline Dimension. We finally have our promised Moon Base, and two maps from DD2 (Buccaneer's Bay, and Embermount Volcano).

Terraria just had another decent update that was mainly QoL changes, but it's an update that's paving the way for better UI support and one of their final content updates (according to unconfirmed sources).

Also, for all those throwing Bioshock Infinite out there, I would like to throw out that if you're going to get into Bioshock Infinite, you should start with the original Bioshock first. The story is outstanding and it sets the atmosphere for the series better than any review. Bioshock 2 was fairly mixed and while I can't recommend it to anyone, there are some who did enjoy the game - I guess it's one of those you either love it or hate it.

There's no need. It stands alone on its own really. Sure there are references that fans of the original will get, but otherwise, it's fine. I have yet to play the other 2 and absolutely loved Infinite.

I played all the bioshocks and did like them. Not a fan of tower defense games. I have Terraria from several years ago and played it a bit but lost interest.
Subnautica looks cool but I want to stay away from Early Access games.

Also have fallout 4, never finished, lost interest.
Same with Skyrim.

Star Trek Online (space and ground combat but more RPG-like than FPS)? Marvel Heroes 2016 (ARPG)? Both are free to play.

But maybe you're just burned out on gaming in general and need to do something else for awhile like reading books or binge-watching Netflix.

The Hunter seems kind of interesting. Still on the fence with Wildlands. I installed some other games I bought awhile back but never played but they didn't interest me. I dunno why I have a hard time getting interested in something. Oh, I also played Witcher 3 but never finished. My name on steam is Black Fox (avatar is a AR-15 with a 1911), I think you can see all the games i own?

Sounds like you might need to take a break for a bit. I think every gamer goes through that stage where nothing interests them, but that's usually when I move onto books or console/nostalgia gaming. Every time I hit a gaming lull, I generally go play some PSX or PS2 games for a while then I'll be craving my PC games in no time, but then again, I love games from almost all genres.
