From my experience pretty much all chain pizza is garbage, it doesn't matter where it comes from.

I prefer Godfathers myself, but there are none near me.

Anyway, Papa John is nice to do this.

I have several Godfathers in my area, and they're great. I wonder if Papa Johns quality varies by location. In my area it's really good and is leaps and bounds above Pizza Hut and Domino's. I usually just buy my pizza at Cheezies, because their regular price on a large one-topping is $6.

Edit: And Cheezies makes all their pizza fresh, so it's not like hot n ready at Little Caesars.

I like Papa John's, only order from them. I can't stand Pizza Hut and wife dislikes Domino's.

I LOVED Garcia's Pizza in Illinois when I lived there. I heard they closed it down though. When I visit my family in Indiana they have a place called Bobe's, it is great and always packed.

Little Ceasar < Dominoes < dog shit < red baron < Godfathers < tombstone < Round Table < my mom's pizza < Pizza Hut < Papa John's < Lots of small local places < Papa Murphy's < Other small local places.

But the food quality isn't even the point of this thread, it's the great thing that the Papa John's company and franchisees are doing.

Of course, it's a PR stunt, but what good deed in the corporate world isn't?


Anyone around Seattle, check out A Pizza Mart if its near you. They're pretty damn good. Also Jet City Pizza, Can/Am Pizza are pretty good...

Papa Johns DOES vary by location. In Minnesota they were awesome. Out west they were OK. Las Vegas Papa Johns was excellent. The worst is right where I am now, Northern Virginia.

I used to love PJ's, until a few years later when every slice consumed would assault my gut with a paroxysm of writhing agony.

Schnatter is kinda a douche. He's got great tastes in cars and airplanes but he's known as a douche. He's damn rich so he can be a douche. He does a lot to support Louisville so I give him that. But personally, he's a douche. Chuck's a pretty good guy though.

there was no Gumby's in this college town? they're way cheaper than PJ's--super low-quality, too; but Pokey Stix were the greatest thing late at night. avoid the pizza, though.

...and you must have never had CiCi's. as another poster mentioned, they are so much worse than PJ's.

nope on both accounts.

I had CPK once and thought it was pretty bad, but I'd really have to do a side by side comparison to decide if it was worse than Papa Johns... I haven't had Papa Johns pizza since moving out of my college town and never looked back.

The grease is the best part. Of the delivery places, Pizza Hut tastes the best but gives me explosive poopoo.
I usually hit up CiCi's and take home 2 larges and a snacky for the family and have left overs the next day.

I've never liked Papa johns as they cook the meat IN the cheese and the meat is soft and spongy. I like my meat hard (crispy)
