Papa John's blames NFL protests for declining pizza sales

the only way to fix this is to make a highly political comment.

The shithead never learns. He's a lot like Trump where if something goes wrong, it's never his fault.

The only thing I'm wondering about now is who is he going to blame next should his stock keeps sloping downhill. lol

Wait...I already know......As far as Shnitter Schnatter and his fellow conservative conmen are concerned, when it doubt, all roads lead back to Hillary.

And Pizza Hut tells Papa Johns to sit down and shut up.

A day after Papa John’s CEO claimed that player protests in the NFL were responsible for lower sales at the chain, the man in charge of Pizza Hut says that’s ridiculous.

“We’re not seeing impact on any of that on our business,” Greg Creed, CEO of Yum Brands—parent company of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and other chains—said in a call with investors on Thursday. Yum Brands posted third-quarter earnings and revenue that beat analyst forecasts, due in part to Pizza Hut’s improved performance.

If I was buying chain pizza,I'd probably go for Papa...Gino's. Solid chain pizza, alittle more expensive, but I think they use real cheese.

But for gosh sakes, find a local INDEPENDENT pizza joint, I think my town has 4-5 of them. Italian / Greek / Portuguise / Armenian / Brazilian even.

I'll admit to ordering one of their pizzas a few times a year. Of course I don't pay for it, I got 12 free pizzas for attending their ribbon cutting. Getting free stuff like that is just my way of sticking it to Shnatter for making pizza that puts me on the Shnitter.

I've seen a big shift to "Subway" style pizza places. Basically a build your own style where you can get a small pizza made *really* the way you want it for $5-$8. Blaze, Pie Five, ect. They are very popular in my college town. Plus the "Other" Papa has taken over for us for lots of take home pizza. Papa Murphy's. $11 and we can get a huge NY style pizza and side of cheesy garlic bread. We take it and bake it at home and it's a hit.

Instead of blaming politics maybe Papa John needs to look at the market and see what people are buying instead.
I tried the Papa Murphy's place and it was garbage. Pay the same price for an unbaked pie as a chain one. WTF? I got two different ones and they had to be cooked at different temps. Not everyone has the right setup to cook pizza's evenly so it was a guessing game. The store didn't last long in my area.

John's an ultra conservative, so he should have no trouble taking personal responsibility for his poor product instead of chalking up his failures to football.

Mike Ilitch looks like a good dude.

He's not talking about unbaked take-home pizzas like Papa Murphy's. Blaze and those other chains make 700 F-fired personal pizzas that are make in front of you, with pre-baked crust that you load with whatever you want, then bake them in the oven ~5 minutes or less. It's like the Chipotle model for pizza.

I mentioned both actually. I have young kids and Papa Murphy's is an easy and cheap dinner. $11 and it feeds 4 of us for 1.5 meals. It's not great pizza, but it's better than frozen.

I honestly don't know why people expect me to read more than one or two sentences into a post! 😀

So much terrible pizza being discussed in this thread.

Alright, alright, pizza casserole guy.

Just one more thing you're wrong about.

Dominos is the only big chain pizza that i like, Pizza Hut is too greasy, Little Caesars is just bad, and Pap John's has a crust that tastes like sawdust to me...imo

You are precariously close to insulting my hometown pizza, son.

Hey now, I like them all. But while I prefer NY style to others, I find Chicagoans' constant defense of their style for whatever reason, to be rather annoying. I lived there for a few years, and I do like it, but I don't find it to be so unique and so amazing to warrant the levels of pride that Chicagoans have for their stuffed and deep dish pizzas.

Italian beef and Chicago dogs, however, well that's different.

Agreed, Chicago style pizza has its place but it's a different place. You can't watch a football game & eat deep dish, you can't have guests walking around your house eating deep dish pizza.
This isn't saying it's bad it just has a different purpose

There's just something about grabbing a big ass slice of pizza from a NYC pizza shop at 1am that you can't beat. Not the same with a Chicago style pie.
