Well, we've got Trent Green who may be available.. that's provided he can even still remember how to throw a ball. Anyone interested? Motivated seller, will sell cheap! :p

Hey, you gave away Daunte Culpepper. Why would anyone pay you for Trent Green? ;)

Isn't Testarverde colorblind? Where's Tim Rattay in all this? He wasnt signed until 10/9 either.

As far as Testarverde goes though, he's not bad, physically not in the best shape but he's smart and possess a good attitude and leadership. Besides, look at the FAs availablle, Bledsoe is retired, so is Aaron Brooks.

Aaron Brooks wasn't completely terrible last year in Oakland. The guy is still relatively young, though compared to Testaverde even Dick Clark is like a teenager, he still has a good arm, and most importantly he'd still be one of the top 5-6 mobile QBs in the NFL.

He could be completely blind for all I care... as long as he can hit Smith when he calls for the ball. ;)

How did the Panthers get the league to change the rule about no wheelchairs or walkers allowed on the playing field?

Testaverde - 20/33, 206 yards and one TD in a win over the Cardinals.

That's impressive coming in on only 4 days practice. I don't care how old he is.

Testaverde expected to be the 3rd string QB for the Patriots this year. He trained and worked out during the off-season and had some sort of agreement with the Pats who finally opted for a younger QB. Personally, I wish the Pats had kept Testaverde.

Man... Forget that he's older than dirt... He walked in cold and won a game... complete with 60+ yard bomb to Smith...

Vinnie is a stud.

I'd take Testaverde over Brooks any day.

And wasn't completely terrible last year in Oakland? You think a 8ints to 3tds and QB rating of 61.7 isn't terrible?

Although to be fair, Vinny had an awful last year @ the Jets.

And for a guy who is supposed to be so mobile, how does he have more than half the career sacks that Vinny has yet he's played in less than half the seasons?

Wow. So long and thanks for the ride, Panthers. See you all again next season. I hate to be a fairweather fan, but when a team signs Testaverde, its not to save the season or to make the playoffs. Its because they're desperate for a guy who can stand behind the center, that's all. The Panthers are now the only team in NFL history with two #1 overall first round picks at QB, but it sure doesn't feel that way. Hopefully Carr can stay healthy and improve his game, otherwise this is gonna be painful to watch.

Was Testaverde even the best option?

Testaverde was a heissman trophy winner,no?

he's still got a good arm,no?

he has the superbowl ring(s),no?

he can last. or at least soak up a paycheck while sitting there. what's the min salary for a benchwarmer qb?

Hey - he has a couple things over David Carr:

1. He doesn't get sacked over and over again.
2. He has an internal clock so if he is about to get sacked he can throw away the ball or move near the line of scrimmage.
3. When people blitz him, he doesn't call their bluff to see if they really will sack him or if it's some sort of practical joke.
4. He can throw, which I'm sure David Carr could do if he didn't spend half the game on his back following a sack (mind out of the gutter).

So, there might be a QB controversy.
