Panaflo 80mm 21db - $3.19 or 10/$26.50

This looks like the new model - 12L that replaced the L1A. Anybody know if they changed anything on the fan?

21db is obviously a fairly low sound level but CFM wise...comparing this fan to say another 80mm fan...does this fan push more air or less air? i am interested in a 80mm fan that can push a VERY VERY HIGH CFM....sound isn't too big of a concern....any reccomendations??
in fact how about 3 diff reccomendations...if its not too much trouble for anyone out there...
one for a fan thats has the lowest db
one that has a nice balance of db and CFM
and one that pushes the highest CFM
any help will be appreciated...thanks in advance 🙂
 
It looks like they're "chinaflos"... made in China. The ones made in china lack the quality control that the Japan ones have and are louder (some clicking noise I think)

It pushes less air. 24 CFM. That's a decent amount of air for an 80mm fan that's quiet. However, it has a very good CFM per unit noise ratio, ie, it's very efficient.

I can't recommend any of the higher db/CFM since I personally stick with low db stuff (where the japanaflo is a very good standard). For most standard computing, careful selection of parts is all that's necessary to have a quiet and cool computer. OCing is another concern. I think itas worth it to spend slightly extra for a quiet comp than dealing with a loud one.
 
anybody order these things? if so, let us know if they're the high-quality Panaflos.

i'm looking to upgrade my cooling system in order to O/C and would like to know if these are reliable.
 
I ordered 15 of them last month, & they all came in from Japan. mo. # FBA08A12L

I did however also order several of the 120mm variety(do a search, $3.25 for 10+), & they were "Made in China from Japanese and foreign components". mo. # FBA12G12M
 
Nice deal at BG micro, I bought some the last time they had this deal and still have some laying around. Have to stop buying for a while since BF in order to save money for food. LOL

I'm telling you man, the Silverstone 80mm RPM Controlled Fan is your winner. It's very quiet on low (17dBA at 1300 RPM) and very loud on high (48 dBA at 5500 RPM) and can move a TON of air (73 CFM at max RPM, minimum would be around 17 CFM).

A good medium would be to run it at 3000 RPM where you'd pull in about 40 CFM at about 26 dBA. That's pretty quiet, and plenty of air. Like I said, the rheostat is included (3.5" bay), so you can adjust it to that out of the box.

Most 80mm fans are listed on GIZzO's Fan Database
You can sort by manufacturer, CFM, noise, etc., the database also has listings for fans from 60mm-120mm.
 
I've ordered these from BG in the past. They are a good company and have some good prices on things if you are willing to look for them.

These fans are QUIET not SILENT for those who are particular. I have used the fans to replace PSU 80mm's and it makes a major difference on cheaper PSU's. As for case fans, I have two computers with twin front and rear fans that I retrofitted with these and I like them but they are not silent. I now use a fan controller and control 2-fans per channel, the 'bearing' noise is audible at slower rpm, more than the NMB's I used to get from bestbyte, but I can't find them as cheap anymore.

FYI, for the price you can't beat them, if you want silent - go elsewhere and expect to pay much more.
About the 2 pin connector, use an exacto knife to cut off the plastic guide tabs and you are good to go.

How is the rheostat hooked up to the fan? Is it inline with the red power cable? Im potentially thinking of running two other front fans with this one knob.
