The Pre looks sweet. I was holding out for it but instead got a BB Curve for free (w/ 2 year) by sticking with Verizon.

I'm annoyed that they're forcing people with older plans to "upgrade" to the Everything-series of plans to get the Pre. I don't even have SERO - where's the love for the old customers who were actually paying you, Sprint?

I agree, although I have SERO. But the business plan they have been using obviously isn't working. By having the "it" phone, folks will upgrade to the new plans. Compared to their competition they are still cheaper so you are still getting a good deal. That said I am now giving up on the Pre and will be getting a TP2 assuming they don't blow the price out of the water.

For me, its missing the onscreen keyboard. If you are used to hardware keypad I can see why this would be attractive to you.

interesting perspectives. The onscreen keyboard on the iphone is precisely why I don't have one. Among other things. But it's a big one. I honestly would prefer a horizontal slider to get more space, but I'll forgo it for now. I don't like Android as it is, and would rather do Sprint then T-Mobile.

I can't stand BB's or WM6 (6.5 might help, but 7 is likely what will be good). And I could really use a smartphone now, the pre is looking to be my best bet. I'm even terminating Verizon (family plan too) to get there. Over the contract period, I'll make up the cost/save with the cheaper plan vs. verizon.

For the non-contract people, do you just buy all your phones from ebay off contract? I hate em too, but I guess I live in an area where pretty much all the providers give decent coverage.

As for SERO, Sprint would be more likely to sink. I don't know how they even offered it. And as stated, the everything data plan is very very competitive, especially when you get into family plans.

I bought my fiancee a Touch. My biggest complaint in the onscreen keyboard. It's garbage.

Can't stand Sprint. I'll await it to carry over to Verizon. My contract is up in December. Should be plenty of time for the rumors to flesh out. (Like the VZ version of Palm Pre, CDMA/LTE iPhone, any BB's, etc.)

son of a bitch... I am not giving up my $30/mo SERO plan for this phone. I was so excited for this phone as well, but now Sprint has to do the same thing as they did with their Instinct last year. Looks like i'll be buying that Touch Pro I've been eyeing since Oct of last year.

Well, if Sprint won't sell me a Pre on my current plan, I'll certainly be up for buying a TP2 (supposedly coming out soon).

same here. but of course, i will try my hardest and push the "ive been with you guys for 10 years, ive been through 6 touch pros, blah blah" crap, but i mean, in the end, if it doesnt work, it doesnt work. you can bet that ill be calling them as soon as i come back from my vacation lol.

however, when my touch pro failed a few weeks ago, sprint offered me any phone, INCLUDING the instinct and instinct s30. i asked them several times if it would even work on my plan ($30 SERO), because i knew it required the new SERO. they assured me that it would work, but in the end, i stuck with the touch pro because of the physical keyboard and wifi.

oh and forget the touch pro, because the touch pro2 (yes sprints version) is coming soon (as in this summer apparently) to sprint! sprintusers.com/engadget/wmexperts already had pictures of it. personally, i think it looks WAY better than the stock gsm touch pro2. so if the pre absolutely doesnt work on the old SERO, its tp2 for me.

I'm actually reading rumors on SprintUsers.com that the TP2 may also require an Everything Plan. :(

Yeah I don't see Sprint letting everyone keep their plans forever and as we move forward I think they will force people to upgrade plans. SERO is just not something sprint is going to make money off of and thats what they are trying to do, make money.

I am really excited about this phone...its going to be really nice. I have SERO and while I don't like it, I will be switching to the RESP program for 59.99.

Now yeah..that is double what SERO was...but it is still unlimited text, and unlimited data, and 450 minutes...more than enough then I need. Still a damn good deal compared to the other carriers. PLUS sprints 3G network is a lot faster than AT&Ts and even a little better than Verizons...

The s30 is confirmed working on SERO. Several people have been told the Instinct will but no one has tried because the phone sucks. It's not that surprising, the phone was crap to start with and is now old. No one is going to switch their SERO plan for it at this point and it will help them clear the last few out of inventory.

If they promote it enough it should do well. One big thing I don't like is that it doesn't have any expandable storage.

Has anyone here been able to touch the Pre yet? I know they're holding off on letting it out but I'm wondering about how the qwerty keyboard is. I've never liked Palm's keyboards. The letters are too close together and my fingers slip off on the other Palms.

The best on-screen keyboard I've seen was the LG Vu, and it was still inferior to the keypad of the LG Voyager.
I hate to say it but touchscreen technology still isnt good enough, at least not for fast keyboard typing. Having said that, the Pre looks awesome and if the screen is really as good as the preview videos seem, I bet somebody will make an app for on screen keys.

Also, while I hate my current Verizon phone, I love the service. I think I may wait for another carrier to pick this up. Sprint has ticked me off too many times.
