Someone leaked Sprint's launch to Engadget.

Individual plans include 450 minutes for $69.99, 900 for $89.99, and Simply Everything unlimited for $99.99. All three include unlimited data. No SERO is confirmed.

I thought they confirmed all this a while ago? Not that I'm complaining, SERO seems like financial suicide for this phone. Yes, I know they have WM phones on SERO, but none of them have pushed the "always connected" as much as this Pre.

Personally, I would like to see Sprint make some money. Don't want to leave it only Verizon and ATT out there. That and because I'm switching to them =)

I hate to say it but touchscreen technology still isnt good enough, at least not for fast keyboard typing. Having said that, the Pre looks awesome and if the screen is really as good as the preview videos seem, I bet somebody will make an app for on screen keys.

Screen real estate is pretty small, I don't see an onscreen keyboard working too well honestly. But I agree that onscreen keyboards just won't ever be that good. At least, on a device this small.

i just want to know why the iphone is so hot when it cant even multitask???

im seriously thinking of gettin the Pre or htc touch pro. upgrading from a faithful 5yo blackberry 🙂

If it was, then I missed it. I didn't see it in any of the threads here.

Palm/Sprint have a 2009 exclusive on the Pre. Verizon has stated "phones like palm pre and storm 2" but the statement can be warped to meaning at least one will make it this year. That's not to say they won't get a WebOS phone before then, eg the so called Eos.

It's a little tempting to stay with verizon and wait it out, but plans are still better for me on Sprint. Willing to suck it up for 2 yrs if it doesn't pan out

How do you know how long the exclusive deal is? Do you work for Palm or Sprint?

Verizon Wireless CEO didn't say a phone like the Pre. He made damn sure the world knew the Pre will be coming to Verizon in about 6 months. He bitch slapped the hell out of Sprint with that statement. If you don't think so, just google Palm Pre Verizon.

If what you say is true, then the head of Sprint should have a statement of his own today, slapping Verizon back. If he doesn't, it's got to be because he can't, and you can expect Sprint's stock to be in a free fall before the end of the day.

No, it's been in the news since day 1 that they'd have 2009 exclusivity. Just search for it. And the verizon quote is "Over the next six months or so you will see devices like Palm Pre and a second generation Storm." Which, as I stated, can mean one of the two would make it this year. Most definitely the Storm 2, but the Pre won't hit till 2010.

Keep in mind 2010 is technically only 6.5 months away. But it's still unlikely anyone would get the Pre before then besides Sprint. Other WebOS devices are up for grabs though.

So I highly doubt Sprint's stock will be in free-fall for old news. It will free fall if they can't do this launch properly, which is still up in the air.

I agree that everyone knew that Sprint had an agreement, but I must disagree that everyone knew it was only for 2009. If that were true, why did Sprint bother to comment on what was said by Verizon?

picking mine up Saturday morning..😀

$99 after upgrade and rebate and a couple of phone buybacks.. 1500 minute everything data family plan / 4 lines with 25% discount from my wife's work = $155 month

Im happy

because people need reassurance. from the bat it was known the exclusive deal couldn't last long. Palm can't afford to do that. It's a good way for them to mitigate the fact they can't ramp production in time. Though, this might be a side effect rather than any real planning.

Please for the love of god post up pics and a mini-quick review. I want to know how the qwerty keyboard is and how slick the OS is.

Yes, that is thekey point. 2010 isn't too far out.
I think that is what happened to the Centro. First Sprint (CDMA), then AT&T (GSM), then Verizon (CDMA).
Might be the same for the Pre. AT&T might have theirs available for a few weeks before Verizon does.

I imagine that the fact that Sprint has been bleeding customers every quarter (although the most recent Q was better) put them in a tight spot with Palm. Since Palm is relying on the Pre to save their entire company, they probably figured that exclusively tying it to a wounded/possibly dying/weaker carrier like Sprint was not the best idea...

There is simply no way that Palm could have had a contract like ATT and apple. Palm needs massive sales off this phone and Verizon and ATT are the only two that can do it. I am sure that they had their reasons to launch with Sprint but a short excusivity was a no brainer. Palm needs to get the Pre to the big guys quickly. I am on Sprint and am glad to see the Pre their but since there is no SERO I will be forced to pass on it.

bingo. this exclusivity really is just a slightly extended release schedule for Palm. They help Sprint out by giving them the "exclusive" and sprint gives them a little back rub.

tho, good luck w/ SERO and new phones... I doubt they'll let you keep it after another generation or two. It's a great plan, but that would drive them out of business.

I would like to see them offer a data only plan for $40... with maybe 100 emergency minutes. That would be awesome, heh.

Does anyone know if Sprint stores will have demo models on the floor before the release date? I'm almost certain I want this phone but I want to get a chance to actually hold one before I buy it (since it seems like my decision will have to already be made on release day because of limited supply).

No not before it's released. Many stores aren't even going to get it. As usual with any big phone releases, it's going to the stores/people that will sell it the most in the beginning so bigger stores and things like that.

Nice OS and screen but cheap hardware, crappy keyboard, so-so browser. For a phone that is supposed to resurrect two companies this isn't looking good. I am sure it will sell well out of the gate but this has Instinct part duex stamped all over it.

Sorry but I'll wait for other sites to review it. BGR just seems to juvenile to me and they've done preview, a pre-review, and will do a full review for a phone they don't like??

Why wouldn't they do a full review on it? Even if they didn't like it is still one of the most hyped phones since the iphone. Even if they didn't like it they still have a responsibility to review it, even more importantly it will bring in readers and up the ad revenue which is the whole point anyways.
