I do not fully understand Palin's PR strategy. I would think she would want to appear to have a thicker skin and attempt to handle the issue with enough grace to show that she is presidential material. Instead she shows this 'angry supermom' thing that I seriously doubt will work when dealing with anyone who has no desire to indulge her for a ratings boost

Naw, the GOP is just pissed at Letterman, because he dared, in one incident, to imitate Limbaugh, who does the same type thing on a many times an hour daily basis.

Sadly for Palin fans, its shows she has not learned a single thing since her drubbing in the election of 11/2008. A seasoned and credible politician could have turned the Letterman insensitivity to their advantage, and Palin flopped when given the opportunity.

I suspect that with a 100 more years of seasoning, you'd get the same palin. Very few are destined for the national stage. Those who try and shouldn't will be miserable with the accumulated failures. They are the ones who become bitter.

Politics should always be a game of win versus loss.

In this case, I see Palin gaining very little, where as Letterman stands to gain big. People who didn't like Letterman before won't like him now, people who were indifferent will probably want to tune in to see what this is about, and the people who like Letterman are already laughing at the absurdity of this situation.

It's not that we hate Hollywood. It more of they hate us so why bother giving them our money/time.

To answer your question though...We play with our kids, have fun with friends, go to the lake, fun stuff and stuff that matters. Same reason TV is all re-runs in the summer.

I find it bizarre and nonsensical to simply ignore Letterman's explanation of this joke, which is essentially what you're doing. I don't blame Sarah Palin for being protective of her daughter, but I blame her for making a mountain out of a molehill for solely political reasons. This is much ado about nothing.

You know, it says a lot (and none of it flattering) that you surmise the unbelievable disaster that is Palin as "a molehill." Not a great start. There is nothing trivial, petty or hypocritical about wanting our elected officials to have IQs greater than their waist sizes. Now Palin projects her faux indignation by actually exploiting her daughter the way she accuses others of doing, wonderful! This is more about Palin getting a chance to act out towards those she feels slighted her personally, i.e. the media, who had the temerity to expect she'd know something. Well, that and A-Rod.

Still, it's funny. I don't recall hearing any outraged conservatives speak out about Chelsea being labeled the White House dog. Where was this sudden respect for decency, family, and women when Hillary was "pimping" her own daughter during the primaries? Yes Chelsea was older then and fair game due to her political involvement, but I have trouble reconciling respect for women and family with almost gleeful references to prostitution.

Lighten up folks, Letterman was obviously joking about the other daughter, the one who had already voluntarily entered the political forum and subsequently followed in her mother's footsteps. No such action exists on the part of the Obama daughters, so give that lame comparison a rest already. It was a mix up, he apologized pretty quickly, let's move on and stop giving the idiots center stage.
